Braintree vs Altrincham Betting Tips and Predictions

Braintree v Altrincham betting tips and football predictions for this weekend’s live TV fixture from all the way down the lower leagues in the National League.

There’s National League football on Saturday on the final day of the season as Braintree host Altrincham looking for a point to secure their play-off status. We’ve got the best bets for the match.

Braintree v Altrincham Preview

BT Sport have chosen a Braintree vs Altrincham for their final offering in the National League. A match which has an effect at both ends. Braintree manager Danny Cowley says there will be many people rooting for Braintree in the play-offs as they are the underdog and have significantly less money and infrastructure than their rivals. ‘I think we’ve given everyone in football a little bit of hope’ he said in his interview this week.

Nobody expected Braintree to be anywhere near the top five at the start of the season, but their hard working displays and solid composition has made them difficult to beat, particularly here at the Avanti Stadium.

A point is all that is needed here and that would confine Tranmere to another season in the National League. If they can secure their place in the end of season shake up, they would face Forest Green, who have just sacked manager Ady Pennock this week for failing to achieve automatic promotion.

Their home form has been key and it’s hard to see Forest Green leaving with an advantage when they visit Essex. Cowley has paid tribute to the Iron’s fans this season and says they are part of the reason for this season’s success. They have collected 42 points from 22 home matches this season and have picked up eight points from a possible 12 recently.

Despite all the fanfare, Braintree aren’t there yet and they know that Altrincham are fighting for their National League lives.

They currently sit 22nd and have the difficult task of beating a team who have scored just 12 home goals all season. They’ve also only scored 21 with their games here tending to be tight affairs settled by a single goal.

They currently sit three points below Halifax and Boreham Wood and will be hoping both of them trip up on their final day outings. Guisely are also only a point above them and should the West Yorkshire outfit win, they could pull themselves clear of danger. Tranmere will be hoping that Altrincham can cause an upset here, but they have the worst away form in the league, picking up just 11 points on the road all season. They’ve lost 15 times this season and their only away point in the last four matches came against already relegated Kidderminster.

Caretaker Neil Tolson believes his side stand a chance of upsetting the form book and is hoping the 5-0 home win over already relegated Welling United will give them plenty of confidence going into this.

They’ve scored just 14 goals on the road all season and even with the addition of on loan Marcus Holness from Tranmere, they’re struggling to create and convert chances away from home.

It’s now 11 games since they picked up maximum points on the road and even if they battle for a point, it won’t be enough to save them.

Braintree vs Altrincham Predictions

It’s very hard to see how Altrincham can get anything from this game. Despite their five goals against Welling United, they can’t seem to be able to replicate it on the road. Braintree are solid and although they will be nervous, I think their fans can roar them on to success. My first Braintree v Altrincham betting tip is for Braintree to win.

BRAINTREE TO WIN – 8/11 with Ladbrokes.

It’s hard to see there being too many goals here. Braintree have been scoring plenty on the road, but they’ve kept it tight here. Altrincham struggling for goals won’t help the nerves surrounding this match and one or two goals could settle this. My second Braintree v Altrincham prediction is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 5/6 with Ladbrokes.

UNDER 2.5 GOALS – 5/6 with Ladbrokes.

Michael Cheek notched twice away last weekend, but Simeon Akinola has scored three times in the last five home matches. Not massively impressive statistics, but they’ve only scored five goals during that period here. He’s a good bet to score anytime. My third Braintree v Altrincham betting tip is for Simeon Akinola to score anytime. He is 13/8 with Bet365.

AKINOLA TO SCORE ANYTIME – 13/8 with bet365.
