Over 2.5 Goals Tips for Saturday

Derby County v Bolton

Bolton could be relegated by the 5pm on Saturday and it could be Derby who send them down to League One. The Rams were very impressive as they put four past a usually resolute Hull City on Tuesday night. They move from the league’s best defence to the worst, so they should notch at least three? They found their shooting boots with Bradley Johnson and Chris Martin chipping in for Darren Wassall’s side. The Trotters conceded another three in midweek against Brentford and even found one themselves in the second half. Three of Derby’s last four games have featured three or more goals and I would expect this one to go the same way. Away from home, Bolton have averaged 2.4 goals conceded a match and as Derby look to secure a play-off place, they should be hungry for goals.

Millwall v Shrewsbury

Both of these sides are desperate for the points here as Millwall look to cement their place in the play-offs. Three points could take them above Gillingham if the Gills slip up against Wigan. Millwall have plenty of goals with Lee Gregory and Steve Morison and look good going forward and with Shrewsbury struggling to defend, it’s unlikely they’ll keep a clean sheet here. The Shrews need the points to escape the clutch of the teams below who have hit form. Sully KaiKai is an excellent loan signing and has provided some goals for the League One side. Their last away match finished 2-2 at Bury and they also beat Blackpool 2-3 back in February. They conceded five at Wigan last time, so there should be a few goals here.

Peterborough v Rochdale

Peterborough were very disappointing at home against Fleetwood in midweek and slumped to a 2-0 defeat. They did also miss a penalty but they will need to drastically improve here. They are safe despite their wretched run and they host in-form Rochdale. Keith Hill’s side could only draw 2-2 against Doncaster last week despite many people expecting them to take maximum points. Six of the last eight games for Peterborough have finished with Over 2.5 goals and other two have had a couple of goals. They struggle to defend as they’ve displayed in 2016 whilst Rochdale have plenty of goals. They’ve hit 12 goals in their last five matches and are chipping in with goals from all over the field.

Northampton v Bristol Rovers

This is the game that could send Northampton up to League One. It’s only a matter of time as they are clear of the chasing pack and it would take a spectacular collapse to send them back into the play-offs. This is a tough game though as Bristol Rovers are in form and playing well. It’s just a single defeat in the last five and that was a 3-2 defeat at Carlisle. They have been scoring for fun and Matty Taylor has been very impressive this season. Northampton have drawn three of their last five and had to come back from two goals down against both Stevenage and Mansfield. They aren’t at their best at the back at the moment, but have plenty of talent going forward. This could be a brilliant game and there should be plenty of goals.

Plymouth v AFC Wimbledon

Our final selection is from Home Park as two inconsistent teams meet. Plymouth’s last home game was an important 3-2 win over York and they shot into a lead before a nervous finish against the strugglers. Plymouth have been decent at home and average over a goal and a half. Wimbledon also average a goal and a half in their away games and this should be a decent contest. Jamille Matt has hit the ground running since joining Plymouth on loan whereas Lyle Taylor is a decent bet for a goal for the away side. There have 11 goals in both Plymouth’s and Wimbledon’s last four home/away matches and we’ll be hoping for more of the same here.
