Football Accumulator Tips 15/03/16

Brighton v Reading – Brighton win

Reading have been hard to beat at home, but they’ve been far worse on the road. They put in a decent performance against Crystal Palace on Friday night in the FA Cup, but were eventually beaten. Ali Al-Habsi put in a top drawer performance, he didn’t deserve to be on the losing side, but the truth is that Reading didn’t create enough. Brighton will be buoyed by the fact that both Hull and Middlesbrough failed to pick up maximum points and suddenly that 2nd place position looks a very realistic target. A win here and they could go above the Teessiders. They are strong at the AMEX winning three of the last four here including the thumping 4-0 win over Leeds. Chris Hughton’s side have plenty of firepower and I think they can beat a Reading side who are heading for another underwhelming season.

Ipswich v Blackburn – Ipswich win

Both of these sides are iffy on the road so the home win seems like the best option. The Tractor Boys are also extremely solid in midweek matches here and although they lost to Hull recently, they tend to see off opponents when they travel to Suffolk on a Tuesday. Blackburn’s bubble burst in their 2-1 defeat at home to Leeds on Saturday in a pulsating match. They will win plenty of matches between now and the end of the season, but the majority of them will be at Ewood Park. Rovers haven’t won here in the last three attempts and I don’t think they can get anything here. There’s still the faint hope of a play-off spot for Mick McCarthy’s side and they will want to boost their top six credentials here whilst a lot of their rivals are not in midweek action.

Oldham v Blackpool – Oldham win

This is a really important battle at the bottom and I think the home side are solid enough to take all three points. Neither of these sides have scored enough throughout the campaign and that’s why they find themselves in similar predicaments. The damning statistics show that Blackpool have scored just one goal in 385 minutes of football and have failed to score in 16 matches this season. They also have a poor record on the road with just two away wins all season so I’m confident of this accumulator tip selection. The teams drew 0-0 at Bloomfield Road not so long ago in a match devoid of quality, but since John Sheridan’s arrival, Oldham have tightened up and they even beat Gillingham here at Boundary Park. They’ve only lost one of their last eight whereas Blackpool have no victory in seven.

Oxford v Dagenham – Oxford win

Oxford’s home form hasn’t been great this season and they chalked up another loss at the Kassam at the weekend as Leyton Orient took all three points back to East London. It’s a real issue for Michael Appleton and it could be the difference between automatic promotion and a play-off tussle come the end of the season. They have more plenty of artillery to deploy and should be a little more consistent. Despite that, this should be a straightforward win for the men in yellow. Dagenham are poor and are a National League team in-waiting. It’s five away games without a win now for the Daggers and not even the return of John Still can save them. They let in far too many goals and despite their indifference in Oxfordshire, the home side should get all three points.

Newport v Hartlepool – Newport win

A 5th consecutive home win on this accumulator but I think Newport can take all three points here. It’s a long journey on a Tuesday night for Hartlepool who have improved considerably under Craig Hignett and it looks like these two sides will meet again in League Two next season. Newport’s 3-0 win over Portsmouth was the perfect way to put their disappointing defeat to Barnet behind them. They’ve been strong at home recently, barring that result to the Bees, they’ve won three out of the last four. Warren Feeney has them organised and importantly Scott Boden is on a scoring streak. Hartlepool have been solid, but these midweek treks are never ideal and they’ve picked up just four points from their last four away matches. This might be a struggle.
