Burnley sit atop the Championship and they added distance between themselves and the chasing pack with an away win at Fulham. They are on the road again, this time heading across the Pennines to Huddersfield. We have the best bets for the match.
Huddersfield v Burnley Predictions
Burnley fans will be smiling from ear to ear this week as their side cemented their place at the top of the table. They were 2-1 down at Craven Cottage, giving hope to the likes of Middlesbrough and Brighton in behind them, but once again The Clarets displaying their spirit and tremendous array of firepower to bounce back and take all three points back to Lancashire.
Sean Dyche’s side are similar to Middlesbrough and Hull in that they rarely find themselves ruffled at the back and often (Fulham excepted) have no problem keeping sides out, but the difference seems to be that they have goals whenever they need them.
Sam Vokes has 11 for the season, but Andre Gray appears to be £9million well spent. He cost the same as Jordan Rhodes, but unlike the former Blackburn man, if Gray is available, he’s one of the first names on the teamsheet. Dyche doesn’t see the need to constantly change a winning team, which has been the downfall of some of their rivals.
They visit Huddersfield here to try and put more daylight between themselves and the chasing pack. They do look likely to find themselves in the Premier League next season. They are well organised and as long as they don’t hit the buffers, I can’t see two teams finishing above them.
They have won six of the last eight games, so this is an unenviable task for the Terriers.
David Wagner has definitely improved the side since taking over in West Yorkshire and they appear to be more expansive and easier on the eye. They beat Reading here in midweek, so this won’t be straightforward for Burnley. They remain frustratingly inconsistent though with seven wins, four draw and seven defeats in front of their own fans and seemingly alternating between winning and losing at the John Smith’s Stadium.
One piece of optimism for the home fans is that Burnley have lost on both of their last two visits here in 2012 and 2013. Both sides are very different now though and I think this will be an entertaining match to watch.
Burnley are usually tough to breach, but they found Fulham’s forward line difficult to deal with and Huddersfield have plenty of energy up top. I think they will concede again. It’s hard to make any case to back against Burnley with the form they are in. The Clarets are flying and I can’t suggest anything other than another away win.
