Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday predictions and betting tips for tonight’s Championship fixture with the best three bets in our preview.
It’s 4th v 6th in the Championship tonight night as both sides look to cement their place in the play-offs. We’ve picked out the best bets for the match.
Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday Predictions
Brighton have been mightily impressive at home and are looking like realistic automatic promotion contenders. Despite just two places separating these sides, there is a difference of nine points with Wednesday occupying the last of the play-off spots.
The Seagulls hammered Leeds here on Monday night with four first half goals and it could have been more. They’re unbeaten in the last four home matches and I think they can make it five. Chris Hughton’s side have found their goalscoring touch and have managed to tighten up at the back after their disastrous run around Christmas which threatened to derail their campaign.
It’s now four without a win for Sheffield Wednesday, whose position as the form team in the league has quickly dissolved. Fernando Forestieri has faced two bans in quick succession and the goals appear to have dried up. They aren’t shipping goals, with just three conceded in four matches, but their free-scoring form appears to have temporarily halted.
They’ve only won two of the last eight, but they have faced some difficult games, acquiring some creditable results, such as the 0-0 draw at the KC Stadium.
Most teams at the top have gone through their rough patches, Brighton, Middlesbrough and Derby have all come through theirs, but Sheffield Wednesday appear to be having theirs at just the wrong time. It’s a real test for Ricardo Carvalhal, who had sailed through his first season as a Championship manager up to this point.
Their performance was out of character against Rotherham at the weekend, but the Millers have become stubborn and unsurprisingly hard to beat under Neil Warnock. Sam Hutchinson could return for this fixture though after sitting out the South Yorkshire derby with a knee Injury and that could toughen up Wednesday in the middle of the park.
A draw was considered about the right result by both managers at the weekend for Brighton as they were held to a goalless draw at Preston. Deepdale is an extremely difficult place to go with Wednesday recently coming unstuck there. Brighton had two goals disallowed for offside and it’s fair to say it was a frustrating afternoon from an Albion perspective. They are better at home though and I think they can get back to winning ways here. My first Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday betting tip is for Brighton to win.

I think this will be an open game of football and as a result I think the goals will flow. Both Tomer Hemed and Jamie Murphy looked lively at the weekend and did manage to score before being flagged offside. Wednesday have plenty of goals in them and I think they can test the Brighton defence. Brighton’s last four home matches have all featured three or more goals. My second Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday betting tips is for Over 2.5 goals
The best odds for over 2.5 goals in Brighton v Sheff Wed tonight are 5/4 at William Hill.

Tomer Hemed has found his shooting boots at the right time for Brighton and he also tends to be the penalty taker. The Israeli has scored 7 of his 11 goals at home this season and I fancy him to strike again. My third Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday betting tip is Tomer Hemed to score anytime.
The best odds for Tomer Hemed to score anytime tonight are 21/10 with Ladbrokes.
