Middlesbrough vs Wolves predictions and tonight’s betting tips for the Championship fixture with three bets including a both teams to score tip and anytime goalscorer tip.
Middlesbrough spurned the opportunity to go top of the Championship on Tuesday night by failing to beat Blackburn. They can put that defeat behind them back at the Riverside as they host Wolves and our football tipster has picked the best three bets for the match.
Middlesbrough vs Wolves Predictions
Aitor Karanka slammed the performance of his players following their 2-1 loss at Ewood Park on Tuesday night. His side found themselves 2-0 down thanks to strikes from Hope Akpan and former Boro youth product Danny Graham. Adam Forshaw struck deep in injury time to salvage something from the match and give the Teessiders faint hope of a late comeback, but it wasn’t to be.
Whilst Middlesbrough were far from awful, Blackburn are very hard to beat on their own patch and have now won three consecutive home matches under Paul Lambert. Not many teams will take all three points back from Ewood Park between now and the end of the season.
The games come thick and fast for Middlesbrough as they find themselves in front of the Sky cameras hosting Wolves tonight.
After an exceptionally poor run, Wolves somewhat surprisingly put in a bright performance to beat Derby at Molineux last Saturday. They are a hit or miss team who struggle for consistency, but can lay some of the blame for a stop-start season on bad luck with injuries.
George Saville proved the hero last weekend, scoring his 1st and 2nd goal for the club and he could be crucial for Wolves as they attempt to clamber up the competitive Championship table. They still appear to be struggling for goals, although there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from the performance of Bjorn Sigurdarson, who came close to netting on a number of occasions.
There’s been further encouraging news this week as it looks as though James Henry is close to a return for the visitors. This match may come a bit too soon for Mike Williamson and Michael Zyro, but it looks as though the men from the Black Country could soon have a fully fit squad to choose from as they look to improve on 13th position.
Middlesbrough should have won this league by now with the squad they possess, but for all their firepower they haven’t scored as regularly as their fans would have expected. Aitor Karanka has to manage his team carefully and find a winning blend as opposed to operating as a bunch of individuals. His challenges include finding a way to keep Jordan Rhodes, David Nugent & Christian Stuani all happy and scoring.
They do look a little light at the back with Daniel Ayala still on the comeback trail and with Wolves finding the net twice against Derby (another good Championship defence) the first football bet for today has to be goals for both sides. Boro peppered Jason Steele’s goal with chances on Tuesday and their former stopper put in a memorable performance. If they create even half as many chances, they should get on the scoresheet here. My first Middlesbrough vs Wolves betting tip is for both teams to score.

I do think Middlesbrough will bounce back. Blackburn are a bit of a bogey team for them and they created plenty of opportunities, they just need to be a little more clinical. Wolves haven’t been bad on the road this season, but it’s no win in four now for Kenny Jackett’s side away from home and I think they’ll head back home empty handed. My second Middlesbrough vs Wolves prediction is for Middlesbrough to win.

It’s always hard to know which Middlesbrough striker is going to start. It’s best to opt for a guaranteed starter in the centre of the park for tonight’s anytime goalscorer tip in Grant Leadbitter. The former Sunderland man is a set piece taker and I think he is a decent price to get on the scoresheet for the second time in seven days.
My third Championship prediction for Middlesbrough v Wolves is for Grant Leadbitter to score anytime. He is 14/5 with William Hill.
