Bristol City v Ipswich Betting Tips and Predictions – 13/02/16

Bristol City v Ipswich Town predictions and betting tips for this weekend’s feature Championship fixture with the best three football tips.

There’s plenty of action in the Championship this weekend, but Ashton Gate is the venue for new manager Lee Johnson’s first game in charge of Bristol City as they welcome 7th place Ipswich and our football tipster has picked his best bets.

Bristol City v Ipswich Predictions

It was somewhat of a surprise when ‘young’, ‘promising’ manager Lee Johnson was plucked from Barnsley to fill the recently vacated Ashton Gate hot-seat. I personally think it’s a decent appointment, but there are many Robins fan who are sceptical about the new man in charge of preserving their Championship status.

Korey Smith, one of the players who has encountered the new boss previously during their time together at Oldham has said Johnson is a ‘brilliant fit’ for the club and will move it forward. His approach is quite attacking so it remains to be seen whether Johnson’s arrival will help solve their lack of goals this season.

It was a season of two halves at Barnsley and many were surprised he left before the Tykes have played their JPT final at Wembley against Oxford United, but he jumped ship and finds himself embroiled in a second tier relegation battle.

John Pemberton has done a decent job of looking after things whilst the club has been between managers and he has stabilised a defence which was extremely generous to say the least under Cotterill. They’ve collected seven points from their last eight games and this won’t be an easy task for Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys are having a good season, currently hovering just outside the play-off spots, but they have picked up just four points from their last four away matches. They have had a tough set of fixtures though against in-form sides such as Burnley, Birmingham and QPR. More of a concern for McCarthy is that the goals have dried up. With so many attack minded players on their books, just six goals scored in seven goals isn’t enough to sustain a push for the top six. Just one of those has been away from home

Ipswich will probably find this tough, whilst Lee Johnson will have much simpler assignments during his tenure here. Bristol City drew with in-from Birmingham in their last outing here and for my weekend football tips I fancy them to take another point from the visitors here.

My first Bristol City v Ipswich betting tip is for the match to end a Draw. It’s available at 23/10 with Betfred.

Bristol City have been averaging a goal a game at home this season, but it’s just three in their last four matches here. Despite the addition of Lee Tomlin to their ranks, they haven’t been able to fashion and convert enough chances. The goals have dried up for summer signing Jonathon Kodjia and they could struggle to get more than a single goal here. Pemberton tightened up the defence and they kept both Middlesbrough and Birmingham quiet recently. With Ipswich not quite in top gear, they may be able to thwart and frustrate the Suffolk outfit throughout. This one might be low scoring.

My second Bristol City v Ipswich prediction is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 4/6 with Coral.

The only goal last week in City’s one nil win over Charlton came from the penalty spot and it feels like the sort of game that may once again be settled by a spot kick. If that’s the case, then Lee Tomlin is the man (unless it’s an Ipswich penalty!) and I fancy the on-loan Bournemouth man to add to his tally.

My third Bristol City v Ipswich betting tip this weekend is for Lee Tomlin to score anytime. He can be backed at 10/3 with Paddy Power.
