Liverpool v Manchester United predictions and betting tips for today’s Premier League fixture with the best three betting tips from our tipster.
One of the games of the season is upon us as Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield and I have three tips for this one.
Liverpool v Man United Predictions
The 2015-2016 Premier League season has been unpredictable to say the least. Who would have thought Leicester would be up there challenging for a top four place? Chelsea sitting in 14th place in January? It's been a rollercoaster of a season and Liverpool in particular epitomise that. Under Jurgen Klopp they've been brilliant one week and appalling the next. A home defeat to Palace followed by a great win at City. A 6-1 drubbing of Southampton in the League Cup followed by a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. It's been tough to bet on the Anfield club with any confidence.

As for United, they've spent the season defending well and attacking poorly, the opposite of last season. They have the second best defensive record in the league this season but scoring goals has been a struggle. They either defend well or attack well, rarely both. That, however, was thrown out the window when they went to Newcastle and were involved in an enthralling 3-3 draw – like Liverpool they've been tough to work out.
Everyone I speak to says this will be a goal-fest but I'm not so sure. Firstly, United are boring. Secondly, if they play here like they did against the Magpies where they conceded a two goal lead to a side that hadn't scored in four games they'll get hammered, so I think they'll revert to type and play the possession game. Liverpool are at their best when they can play on the counter and I don't think United will give them the chance to do that. Liverpool will fly out the blocks but if Louis Van Gaal's men can survive the opening onslaught then they have a chance.

Liverpool team news – Dejan Lovren might be back for this one and could start in a defence that conceded three in the draw at home to Arsenal last time out, but Klopp is still missing Divock Origi, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho. Steven Caulker could come in to make his full debut though I think if Lovren does start it will be beside either Kolo Toure or Mamadou Sakho.
Man United team news – United are still without Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger and there are doubts over Michael Carrick so Marouane Fellaini is set to keep his place (he'll probably either score or get sent off. Or both.)
For me this is a game that depends on the first 20 minutes. Liverpool will press United from the off, put them under pressure and with Jordan Henderson and James Milner back from injury they have the energy in midfield to do that. If the home side score early there could be a few in this but I think United will go ultra defensive early on, try and soak up the pressure and frustrate their opponents. If they can do that then I think they'll get something out of this game.
My first betting tip for Liverpool v Man United is for the match to end in a draw. The best odds are with BetVictor at 23/10.

I think the Newcastle game shook Van Gaal up. After people were (literally) screaming at him to play more attacking football he does and what happens? A side who can't score, score thrice. He'll go back to his philosophy of all out defending and try and nick a goal on the break. Many are predicting four or five goals in this one but I think the opposite. Go for under 2.5 goals with Bet Victor who are offering 4/6. Not great odds I know but still I think it's worth a couple of quid.
My second Liverpool v Man United prediction is for under 2.5 goals to be scored and the best odds are 4/6 with Bet Victor.
The ref for this one is Mark Clattenburg, he's not been the most card happy referee this season but in a game of this magnitude players could lose their rag. I can see frustration setting in to either side if the game's not going their way. The afore mentioned Fellaini is 10/1 to be shown a red with Bet Victor, he's been lucky not to have been sent off a couple of times this season.
However, I'm going for a relatively broader bet so my third Liverpool v Man Utd prediction is for there to be a sending off in the match at 10/3 with William Hill.
