Bristol City v Nottingham Forest betting tips for Friday’s Championship match with the best football predictions on the game and three free tips.
Domestic football is back after the International Break and it begins with a trip to Ashton Gate on Friday night as Bristol City take on Nottingham Forest where our football tipster has got three betting tips.
Bristol City v Nottingham Forest Preview
The Robins were cruelly denied their first win of the Championship season by a last gasp Daniel Powell goal for MK Dons. They still haven’t taken the maximum number of points from a game since returning to this level, but they’ve been scoring enough goals to suggest that they will do soon.
The trouble is they come up against a Nottingham Forest side who have been resurgent in recent weeks and are unbeaten away from home for four games. Their last defeat on the road coming on the opening weekend of the season, on the Friday night when they lost to table toppers Brighton.
There are once again, huge expectations at Forest that Dougie Freedman has to contend with and despite a shaky start, it looks like some wise acquisitions on deadline day and players returning from injury is finally starting to help his cause.
Forest have been unlucky in both their recent defeats, losing to two top teams in Hull and Middlesbrough. They missed a penalty against the Teessiders and may have got something out of the game if Matt Mills hasn’t seen red against Hull.
The main positive this season for Bristol City has been £2m acquisition Jonathon Kodjia, the Frenchman, he’s scored six in 10 since joining from Angers and is clearly enjoying his football in the South West. Although the fee may have appeared large for an untested striker at this level, it is a gamble that has certainly paid off for Steve Cotterill.
Elliott Bennett and Simon Cox have also joined this week and that could be savvy use of the loan market from the former Burnley and Cheltenham manager. Simon Cox hasn’t had a chance at Reading, who bought in a number of new faces and he will give 100% for the cause and will know all about the Forest backline from his time at the club.
Michael Mancienne is ruled out for the away side, he has been playing in the defensive midfield position and Liam Trotter is set to be brought in from Bolton to replace the former Wolves man. He joins Matt Mills and Eric Lichaj, who are both suspended on the sidelines and it leaves Forest a little short of manpower. Britt Assombalonga, Andy Reid, Dexter Blackstock and Kelvin Wilson are just some of the names who are on the treatment table.
Football Predictions
With the disruption to Forest’s rhythm that the injury may have caused, plus the impact of the new Bristol City loanees will want to make, I can imagine the two teams being fairly evenly matched. A point would be a fair result, but the wait for a win might continue for the home side.
My first football betting tip for Bristol City v Nottingham Forest is for the match to end a draw, the best odds for the draw are 5/2 with Bet Victor.

Since the beginning of the new season, the Ashton gate faithful haven’t had a huge amount to cheer about, but they’ve had plenty of entertainment along the way. A 2-4 defeat to Brentford has been followed by a 2-2 draw and then a 1-2 defeat, there’s certainly been plenty of goals along the way. I would expect the pattern to continue here – Bristol City have conceded at least two goals in all but one of their home games and they’ve only failed to score in one.
My second football tip is for both teams to score in Bristol City v Nottm Forest and the best odds are 4/6 with Coral.

He may be favourite in the goalscorer market, but that’s because he has looked sharp and he seems the most likely source to strike in this game. As we’ve already mentioned, Jonathon Kodjia has scored six in his opening 10 games and I believe he should be able to make it seven in 11 against a depleted Forest defence.
My third football bet tip for Bristol City v Forest is for Jonathon Kodjia to score anytime, he’s 2/1 with 888Sport.
