Both sides have had respectable starts to the new season, it’s been all change at Hillsborough whilst Steve Bruce has had to stabilise matters at the KC following relegation from the Premier League.

 

There will be plenty of away fans flocking to Sheffield for this one as both sides could cement their positions in the top half of the table before the others kick off later in the day.

 

Sheffield Wednesday’s form coming into the match shows they have won their last home, beating Preston 3-1, they’ve also seen off Fulham by three goals to two and they are quite difficult to beat on their own patch. They’re on a four game winning streak and have even put Premier League side Newcastle out of the cup, it’s a big ask for Hull City to take all three points.

 

The Tigers have been showing excellent away form, having won their last two games without shipping a single goal. They beat in-form Nottingham Forest thanks to an Abel Hernandez goal and they also put two past Cardiff without reply, the Bluebirds having been impressive on their own patch prior to that.

 

The one thing that is noticeable about both of these sides is the tremendous team spirit which is embodied within. Steve Bruce is a decent manager at Championship level, he struggled in the Premier League, but seems to be able to create a team to challenge at the right end at this level.

 

Less is known about Ricardo Carvalhal, but all of the Wednesday players have been full of praise for the new man at the helm, he does operate a rotation policy as he has a large squad at his disposal, but Liam Palmer has come out this week in favour of said policy giving all of the players a chance to impress.

 

The Owls have shown spirit to dig in when they’ve been under the cosh in recent weeks and I can’t see them losing here. Hull City have also been tough and they have the players capable of a moment of creativity. I think it will be fairly equal between these sides and that’s my predicted result for the match.
