With Jose Mourinho back among the Premier League at Manchester United next season, Antonio Conte looking to impress with Chelsea, great expectations thrust upon Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and both Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino still holding down their respective roles in North London – Pep Guardiola simply has to hit the ground running at the Etihad if Manchester City are to truly improve upon their fortunes in 2016/17.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss does in-fact arrive with a rather lofty managerial reputation lest we forget, but will that alone prove enough to make it among the often troubling waters of Premier League football, and does Pep Guardiola ultimately have what it takes to successfully transfer his high and mighty footballing philosophies among the English game?
Some Premier League onlookers simply say yes, Guardiola is the right man for City after all…
Utterly convinced that Pep Guardiola will win the PL title by March regardless of who he signs this summer or what other clubs do.

…whilst others remain understandably sceptical at this particular stage in the proceedings…
Guardiola is going to flop in the Premier League, I can see it already. Good.

That said, even previous fringe players among the Manchester City first team squad seem to be benefitting from the former Barcelona boss’ recent appointment at the Etihad…
Fabian Delph has been so so impressive under Guardiola. His energy, aggression and high pressing is ideal for Pep's style. #mcfc

…which could even serve to improve the entire Three Lions national outfit if some rather optimistic fans are to be believed this summer…
Pep Guardiola is going to revolutionise English football to the extent that the national team will win the World Cup in 2018

But can Pep’s famed tiki-taka style of play really thrive among the English top-flight…?
Call me mad but I'm not convinced of guardiola's greatness…I'd have a high win ratio if my only 2 clubs were barca & Bayern…

…regardless of what Big Sam has had to say on the subject in recent years…
England Won't Get Any Tippy Tappy Football If Big Sam Gets The Nod https://t.co/YhgtsrH1ZO

…the outcome will likely prove somewhat captivating next season if we’re all being completely honest with the situation…
just can't wait for the new season to start with the most anticipated clash Mourinho vs Guardiola….#BPL #MUFC

So then, while we are yet to know whether or not Pep really has what it takes to cut it among the Premier League…
Pep Guardiola is over rated. Won trophies with unbelievably good teams in leagues that aren't so competitive.
— Akshay (@pacmanXXVII) 2 June 2016
…Manchester City will surely come out fighting on all cylinders next season with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich man running the show at the Etihad…
Man City is going to be on fire next season ? #PepGuardiola

It would therefore take a brave man to bet against the Premier League’s wealthiest club in 2016/17, with arguably the most sought after manager in world football taking the reins at Manchester City ahead of the new domestic campaign…
