Blackburn were many peoples idea of an outside chance of promotion this season and they have started off the season solidly. Although they are 6 places below Watford, they have been playing well at home all season. They are unbeaten at home in the league and were buoyed by the fact that Jordan Rhodes signed a new contract. Watford have started the season well, they did win their last away match, although this was against beleaguered Blackpool. Both sides have recently drawn 1-1 with Bournemouth and both sides put 4 past Huddersfield, so both sides are fairly even on paper, but I think home advantage will count in this one.

Norwich to beat Blackpool

Last time I wrote Blackpool off, they battled to a 0-0 draw with Wolves and last time I tipped Norwich for an accumulator tip, they could only draw with an out of form Birmingham. So I shouldn’t be confident coming into this one. But Blackpool can’t score. They only have 3 goals this season and if Norwich can get at least 1 goal, they will win this tie. Cameron Jerome is in form and scored 2 more goals last weekend. I can’t see anything but an away win.

Chesterfield to beat Notts County

There don’t appear to be too many bankers in League One this weekend with many of the top teams facing one another. I have been very impressed with Chesterfield of late. What they lack in defensive solidity, they make up for in attacking intent. Daniel Johnson on loan from Aston Villa looks pacey and they have young talent in the shape of Tendayi Darikwa and the free scoring Eoin Doyle, who has 12 to his name already this season. Notts County haven’t started badly and aren’t particularly bad on the road, but I just feel as though Chesterfield will come out on top.

Wycombe to beat Cambridge

Wycombe have surprised many this season, they survived on the last day of the season, but have made a blistering start to the season. They have only lost this season and got a creditable draw against Portsmouth last weekend. They have had notable victories over Plymouth and head Bury to a goalless draw. Alfie Mawson and Aaron Pierre may be young, but they have been solid at the back, which was part of the Chairboys’ problem last season. Cambridge have had two poor home results on the bounce and despite a promising start, will need to improve. I can’t see them taking points away from Adams Park.

Burton to beat Cheltenham

Burton have had a very poor week, losing 3 games, but they played a weaker team against Brighton midweek, were outclassed by promotion rivals Bury at the weekend and were bullied by Wimbledon’s physical tactics before then. They are a decent teams and Gary Rowett is an excellent young manager. They should be able to bounce back here. Cheltenham have been poor of late, only scoring 1 goal in their last 4 games. Koby Arthur being recalled by Birmingham is a blow and they need new signing Rafael De Vita to inspire some confidence amongst the ranks. I think Burton will be able to get back to winning ways here.
