Both teams to score betting tips for the first weekend of the new season on Satruday 8th August 2015.
We are back for the new season and our football tipster has picked out his first both teams to score betting tip accumulator for the 3pm kick-offs this weekend.
Both Teams to Score Betting Tip 8th August:
Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City
Steve Cotterill’s Bristol City team ran away with League 1 title last season and a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday will be their opening match of the 2015/16 Championship season. Wednesday had a mediocre season last time out, finishing 13th in the second tier and in all honesty they never really possessed the quality to trouble the teams in the top half.
Due to a pedestrian season, the Owls decided to offload Stuart Gray in the summer and have replaced him with Portuguese journeyman Carlos Carvalhal whose last job was as the Technical Director at Dubai base Al Ahli. Carvalhal has enjoyed a mixed pre-season, losing two, drawing two, and winning two. Their most recent warm up fixture was a 5-0 drubbing of St Mirren at Hillsborough.
Under their new Portuguese manager, Wednesday will be a relatively unknown quantity for their first few matches. However, they have managed 11 goals from their five pre-season friendlies and they will be odds on to notch at least one against Bristol City.
However, Cotterill’s men will have a point to prove that they can cut it at this level, after a disappointing relegation from the Championship in 2013.
Wednesday scored in each of their last seven home games of the last campaign, whereas City notched a massive 23 goals in their final nine away games of their successful League 1 campaign last year.
Both teams have big points to prove and I think this should be an absolute cracker, put it in your both teams to score accumulator this weekend.
Blackburn Rovers v Wolves
Both Blackburn and Wolves will be looking for better seasons than they enjoyed last time out. Wolves narrowly missed out on a playoff spot on goal difference, whereas Rovers finished the season two places and 11 points behind Wanderers.
Wolves have managed three wins and two draws in their five warm up fixtures, including a creditable 2-2 draw with West Midlands rivals Aston Villa. Blackburn have three wins, a draw and one defeat so far in pre-season with their most recent being a comfortable 3-0 win over Wigan.
Both Gary Bowyer and Kenny Jackett will be looking for a result to kick-start their campaign. I feel that Wolves are the stronger outfit, but Rovers have the home advantage. Blackburn only failed to score in one of their last 10 Championship fixtures at Ewood Park, whereas Wolves failed to notch in just one of their last 13 Championship away games.
This one should be an interesting match and I can see it being full of goals.
Charlton v QPR
Charlton Athletic take on a newly relegated QPR side looking to maintain their current status as yoyo club of the decade by returning to the Premier League once again. Chris Ramsey has remained in charge of the R’s and he will be looking for a positive start at The Valley against a Charlton side that finished in 12th position last time out.
Guy Luzon’s Athletic side have an impressive home record and notched a fair few goals in front of their own supporters at the back end of last season.
Although QPR suffered the ignominy of relegation last season, they did put up a decent fist of it and managed to maintain an impressive goal-scoring record throughout the campaign. It was a big shame, however, that their defence was a veritable colander for conceding goals.
I am expecting a belting opening match at the Valley between two teams who are desperate for a return to the big time. This is an extremely likely BTTS bet for this weekend and goes into my football tip. Goals are extremely likely.
Rotherham v MK Dons
Karl Robinson’s MK Dons side kick off their first ever Championship campaign away to a Rotherham side who barely escaped relegation last season.
The Millers had a pretty dreadful season last time out, managing to concede 67 goals from their 46 games in the Championship. Despite conceding on an almost inevitable basis, Rotherham had a great record for scoring in front of their own fans, achieving 19 goals from their last 10 home games of last season.
By contrast, MK Dons conceded just 44 as they blasted their way to a second placed League 1 finish, notching an astounding 101 goals in the process. The Dons failed to score in just one of their last 16 away games of the season.
When you take into account Rotherham’s leaky defence and MK Dons potent attack, coupled with the Dons’ step up to the Championship, both teams have a lot to prove in this match.
Goals are sure to be scored, and I feel that MK will mark their first Championship game with a high scoring victory to kick-start their campaign. I am definitely putting this game on my weekend BTTS coupon!
