Walsall vs Fleetwood Betting Tips and Predictions – League One Tips

Walsall vs Fleetwood predictions and today’s football betting tips for the League One fixture kicking off at 12.15pm.

Today’s lunchtime’s Sky Sports fixture between Walsall v Fleetwood has implications at both ends of the table when the sides meet at the Bescott. We’ve got the best betting tips for the lunchtime kick off.

Walsall vs Fleetwood Preview

Walsall

Burton grabbed a stoppage time winner on Saturday to see of Gillingham through a Tom Naylor header. That goal was felt in the West Midlands as it makes Walsall’s task of achieving automatic promotion very difficult. The Saddlers would need six points from their remaining two games and hope that Burton lose at almost-relegated Doncaster.

If they wish to join Villa and Birmingham, it looks like they might have to do it the hard way; through the play-offs. I can’t remember a League One Play-offs as hard to call as this season’s is shaping up to be. Millwall and Bradford are going to be hard to beat and don’t write off Barnsley if they can hold onto that precious 6th place. If Scunthorpe jump in ahead of the Tykes, they are the side with the momentum.

Throughout the season, it’s been Walsall’s away form that has been strong with their record at the Bescott Stadium largely mixed. However, they have lost three times in the last eight games and all of them have been on the road. Points dropped against Oldham and a struggling Swindon outfit could cost them. They have taken 10 points from their last 12 here and will fancy their chances this bank holiday.

With Burton’s form indifferent over the last six weeks, Jon Whitney will have fancied his side to nick the second spot, but it looks like they might just fall short. It’s a terrific achievement though for a side who have brought through a number of youth players as well as helping themselves to the best cast-offs from West Midlands clubs. There is some promising talent coming through. Rico Henry looks a prospect, as does Kieran Morris whilst Matty Preston has just signed a new contract with the club. Romaine Sawyers is always a tricky customer whilst they will do well to prevent Championship clubs from getting their hands on striker Tom Bradshaw.

Fleetwood

At the other end of the table, Fleetwood are now the only club who can be dragged into the relegation zone. Should Fleetwood fail to win here, they have a final day showdown with Crewe to look forward to. The Railwaymen may already be relegated, but as Doncaster displayed on Saturday, that doesn’t make it any easier. Fleetwood’s problem this season has been goalscoring. They are the 5th lowest scorers with just 49 goals from 44 matches and they’ve netted just six times in the last eight games. They have dominated games this season, but failed to find the back of the net. On the contrary, they aren’t bad at the back, they have the 9th best defence in the league despite their lowly position in the table.

They’ve tried various forwards in a number of combinations, but just haven’t been able to strike gold. Wes Burns has added a little firepower since arriving on loan from Bristol City, but the inconsistent David Ball and Bobby Grant are fairly profligate. In their last eight games, they’ve only won once and have drawn five times.

They are one of the divisions draw specialists having ended all square 15 times this season and a point here would almost guarantee them safety. A win would confine local rivals Blackpool to League Two. They have a far superior goal difference to the seasiders and it would require a hefty goal swing to keep the Tangerines in the division. Worryingly for the Cod Army, their away form has been atrocious this season, collected just 16 points on their travels and it’s five matches since they were victorious on the road.

Walsall vs Fleetwood Predictions

Although Fleetwood have battled for many a point this season, their away form does worry me here. They have drawn three of their last four on the road, but none of those sides were in the top eight. They lost at Millwall, who are one place below today’s opponents and I think their survival could go down to the final week of the season. My first Walsall v Fleetwood prediction for today is for Walsall to win today and the best odds are 20/21.

I think we could see a tight match which could be decided by a single goal. Fleetwood don’t score enough, particularly away from home and I fancy a low scoring affair. My second Walsall v Fleetwood betting tip is for Under 2.5 goals with the best odds 8/11.

UNDER 2.5 GOALS  – 8/11 with Betfair

For those who believe in backing a player in form, Kieran Morris is surely the man for today’s anytime goalscorer tip. The youngster has netted in his last two home matches and could make it a hattrick here at a decent price. My third football prediction for Walsall v Fleetwood is for Kieran Morris to score anytime.

MORRIS TO SCORE ANYTIME – 5/1 with Bet365.
