Tottenham v Newcastle Predictions
Following their superb win over Monaco on Thursday, Tottenham will look to continue that on Sunday afternoon against a Newcastle side who grabbed a morale boosting win against Liverpool last weekend. Spurs are unbeaten in the league since the opening day and they were unlucky to lose that. They’ve conceded just 12 league goals this season and everything is pointing towards this being an easy win for the home side.
Newcastle pulled off a great win at home to Liverpool last weekend but I don’t think they’ll replicate that here. Their staunch defensive display against Jurgen Klopp’s men was impressive but if they tried the same tactic here they’ll be in danger of a mauling. Tottenham’s attacking prowess will make it difficult for them to hold out for 90 minutes. This fixture is known for goals, there’s been over 2.5 goals in seven of the last eight meetings between the two and I’m going for a high scoring Spurs win. Newcastle are suffering with a huge injury list, and this game comes too soon for Cheick Tioti and Rolando Aarons. Tottenham however should welcome back Mousa Dembele after illness and the midfielder has been in good form this season. Following his European hat trick, Erik Lamela will be a threat for Spurs but for my second football bet I’m going for Harry Kane to grab the first goal. Kane started the season slowly, but has improved as the season has gone on and has scored eight in 15 league games.
