Man City v Juventus – Man City to win

Man City are unbeaten, Juventus haven’t managed a victory yet in this Serie A campaign. Admittedly Man City have played a couple more games than their counterparts and being further down the line will help with any fitness issues. Playing 2 lots of 90 minutes inside a week hot on the heels of many players away on International duty will be testing and I think City have the squad depth and individuals to cope with the demands. Juventus will be quite the test, but last years finalists haven’t hit the ground running yet and only picked up their first point of the season this weekend.

 

Sevilla v Borussia Monchengladbach – Under 2.5 goals

The battle of two out of form teams going into this Group D match. Sevilla scored their first goal of the season against Levante on Friday night and will look for results to pick up soon. Obviously, it’s early days, but Gladbach got thumped on Friday night by Hamburg, but they have only scored 2 goals this season in their opening 4 goals. Although the German’s games have featured goals, they have largely been against them and going off their opening few games, you can’t imagine Sevilla being at their prolific best.

 

Wolfsburg v CSKA Moscow – Wolfsburg win

Wolfsburg have started the Bundesliga tremendously well. Despite the loss of Kevin De Bruyne on transfer deadline day, they continue to be consistent and are undefeated so far. They have won both of their home games and drawn both of their away games, they face the Russians here. CSKA are coming off the back of a top of the table clash with Zenit, where they blew a two goal lead. With Doumbia back in the line up, they look capable of scoring goals, but don’t always look as secure at the back. Wolfsburg will probably win this game narrowly.

 

Birmingham v Nottingham Forest – Birmingham win

In the Championship there are a number of teams playing well at home. Birmingham are one of these and Gary Rowett’s record at St Andrews is phenomenal, almost the polar opposite to predecessor Lee Clark. They face Forest who had a good win at QPR on Saturday, but were helped by the dismissal of Rob Green. New signing Nelson Oliveira looks handy, but I think Birmingham have too many goals in them.

 

 Charlton v Huddersfield – Charlton win

There are concerns at Huddersfield, they just haven’t been able to perform as expected this season and the loss of Jacob Butterfield on deadline day won’t have helped. Chris Powell has a big job to turn it around and he faces his former employers here. Charlton couldn’t beat Rotherham at the weekend, scuppering a lot of accumulators along the way, but they hardly ever lose and have seen off QPR on this ground, they should have too much for the Terriers.
