Premier League predictions and betting tips for the new season, picking the best bets from the three most popular ante-post markets.
With the first fixtures of the new season fast approaching and all the teams getting busy in the transfer window, it’s about time that punters start placing their ante-post bets for the year ahead, here are our 2015/16 football tips for the Premier League.
So today I’m going to look at the top three most popular betting categories, analyse the front runners and give you a few fancied football tips.
Premier League Winner
Favourites: Chelsea (13/8 Coral).
Jose Mourinho’s side are quite rightly favourites for back to back titles after their dominant performance last time round. However, I don’t think it will be as comfortable for them this time. Both Manchester City (11/4 William Hill) and Manchester United (11/2 w. Ladbrokes) have strengthened well already, both have money to spend and I would not be surprised if added a few more big money signings in the final month of the transfer window. Petr Cech’s arrival at Arsenal (9/2 William Hill) could prove to be the signing of the season and Arsene Wenger will be looking to seriously challenge for the title after back to back FA Cup wins.
Premier League Winner Prediction: Man City (11/4 William Hill).
Man City won the title in 2013, despite having a fairly poor defence of their first success the previous year. Pellegrini’s side are in the same situation at the start of this season, they have already broke the bank for Raheem Sterling, but there is plenty more money left after their Financial Fair Play restriction were lifted. 11/4 is a very good price.
Premier League Top Goalscorer
Favourite: Sergio Aguero (3/1 Ladbrokes)
Despite being fairly susceptible to injury, Aguero has notched up 78 goals in 120 appearances for City, winning the Golden Boot last season with a total of 26 goals. When he is fully fit, he is the best out-and-out striker in the world. So it is no surprise he is favourite. Diego Costa (6/1 Bet Victor) scored 20 goals in his debut season at Chelsea and would probably have gone on to win the Golden Boot if it wasn’t for a few injuries that blighted the second half of his season. Harry Kane (14/1 Coral) is the third favourite after enjoying a fantastic first season as Tottenham’s first choice striker and breaking into the England squad.
Premier League Top Goalscorer Prediction: Wayne Rooney (16/1 Coral)
Rooney may have only scored 12 goals last season, but he played lots of games in midfield and struggled with a few niggling injuries. After the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie, Louis van Gaal has stated that Rooney will be his first choice number nine. United have strengthened their midfield, adding quality and creativity in key areas, which will give more licence to their forward line. I can see Rooney having a very successful campaign. 16/1 is very inviting, especially for an each way top scorer bet.
Next Manager to Leave Their Post
Favourite: Brendan Rodgers (5/1 Coral)
After a fairly underwhelming season and rumours of crisis talks with the owners during the summer, it is no surprise to see the Liverpool manager as the favourite to get the boot first this season. A good start will be imperative for Rodgers, as will the performances of their new signing. New Watford manager Quique Flores (6/1 Coral) is second favourite, closely followed by Dick Advocaat (8/1 Coral). This is Flores’ first job in England, but he has a good track record with his previous clubs. Watford have been very busy in the window, so he will need to bed the new players in quickly if they are to survive the drop. Sunderland will be hoping the impact Advocaat had last season will run into this one. But both his predecessors came in under similar circumstances and didn’t last long in their first full seasons’ in charge.
Next Manager to Leave Prediction – Claudio Ranieri (16/1 888Sport)
Ranieri was a surprise appointment at Leicester earlier this month. He might have a very illustrious CV, but his last venture with the Greek national team was nothing short of a disaster. Maybe that was just a one off, but if the Foxes get off to a poor start, you could see their Thai owner wielding the axe over the “Tinker Man’s” head pretty quickly and landing us a 16/1 football betting tip.
