Championship predictions and Rotherham v Burnley betting tips for Friday 2nd October’s match where our tipster has picked his best three football bets.
The Friday night clash from the Championship between Rotherham and Burnley at the New York Stadium give us the first chance to get some winning bets on this weekend’s football, see our preview and betting tips below.
Rotherham v Burnley Preview
Strange goings-on in South Yorkshire this week as just a few days after picking up a vital victory and making it two victories in a row, Steve Evans walked out of Rotherham Football Club. A disagreement over the direction the club was heading with Tony Stewart were the reason given, but many people are speculating there is more than meets the eye.
A 2-0 victory away at Birmingham is not to be sniffed at and it was a sensational result for the Millers, who lifted themselves up a couple of places in the process.
They are one of the smallest clubs in the division and are always destined to be in the bottom half of the table, but they could well keep their heads above water if they’re able to stretch their recent good form.
Burnley come into this off the back of a disappointing home loss to Reading, where they found themselves 2-0 down before being able to mount a comeback. A first goal for Tendayi Darikwa is certainly a positive, but Sean Dyches’ side never really got going.
Joey Barton made an appearance at the weekend and he may be in the frame to get his first start for the club. It remains to be seen whether Sean Dyche adjusts his midfield for the visit to Rotherham.
Any hopes of consistency have been dashed for Rotherham, with Paul Green and Lee Frecklington both unavailable for this tie and Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe on his way back to Norwich. The problem in the past for Rotherham has just been the sheer number of players used throughout the tenure of Steve Evans and there will have to be changes to the winning team here.
It looks like record signing Andre Gray may be missing once again for Burnley and he may not risked as he is on the comeback trail from his injury, which leaves Burnley a little light up front.
Football Predictions
Burnley have been hard to beat this season, unless you’re in-form Reading of course. Sean Dyche isn’t the sort of manager to let his teams dwell on defeat and very rarely do a side managed by the former defender lose more than one game in a row. Despite the changes in management for Rotherham, I don’t expect caretaker manager Eric Black to guide his side to victory.
My first Rotherham v Burnley prediction is for Burnley to win the match, the best odds are 11/8 with Betfred.

Despite the clean sheet last week, it’s been difficult to keep opposition out for Rotherham this season and Burnley haven’t found it particularly easy either. The Millers seem to have found a few goals of late and I fancy them to give Michael Keane and his defensive cohorts something to think about.
My second football prediction for Burnley v Rotherham is for both teams to score, the best odds are 10/11 at Coral.
As previously mentioned, Andre Gray looks set to be missing for this game, so it looks like Sam Vokes and Rowuen Hemmings will continue in the forward positions. I think this leaves them a little light up front and I would prefer to back a midfielder to score in my football predictions for a goalscorer. George Boyd already has a goal to his name this season and is a players who is handy at popping up in advanced positions, I fancy him to score during the 90 minutes.
My third Rotherham v Burnley betting tip is George Boyd to score anytime and the best odds are 11/2 at Stan James.
