Rochdale v Wigan betting tips preview

Rochdale v Wigan Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Rochdale v Wigan predictions and football betting tips for this weekend’s League One fixture live on Sky Sports on Saturday 14th November.

There were contrasting fortunes for both of these sides in the JPT in midweek as Rochdale crashed out to Morecambe here at Spotland whilst Wigan thumped crisis club Blackpool where it could and should have been more.

Rochdale v Wigan Predictions

Rochdale have seemingly lost a little confidence and their fine early season form, particularly here has long since gone. It started with a 1-3 defeat to Bradford and since then they’ve had four consecutive draws. It’s still a point a game, but Keith Hill will want to turn those into wins as soon as possible.

Hill has a young squad, which will need chivvying along and plenty of encouragement during a very long season. Ian Henderson and Peter Vincenti are two of the more senior players in the squad and the manager will be looking for their assistance throughout the campaign.

They have another local derby with Bury coming up in the FA Cup in November, so he’ll be hoping his side return to form in time for the North West clash with his old mate David Flitcroft.

He could have hoped for a slightly easier match than Wigan. The Latics are finally starting to fulfil their potential and string together a sequence of results. A last gasp winner against Swindon sealed a 1-0 win for Gary Caldwell’s men who have plenty of depth to their squad. They’ve won three of their last four with only a 1-1 at Bradford preventing them from picking up 12 points from 12.

They’ve only lost once since the end of August and their 4-0 victory over Blackpool will surely have given them confidence going into this.

Wigan started the season struggling for form on the road, and looking at Wigan’s recent form, they’ve sorted that problem now and they’re unbeaten in the last four on the road. Although three of those have been draws.

Rochdale are struggling for victories and it could be a fifth draw in five for Dale. The points could be shared here and that is going to make up my first football tip for this weekend’s TV Championship match.

My first Rochdale v Wigan betting tip is for a draw, the best odds for Rochdale and Wigan to draw are 12/5 with Bet Victor.

Although I think the Latics might come out on top, I don’t think there will much between them. Rochdale will be desperate to bounce back and Hill said he was disappointed to go out of the JPT and his side couldn’t match the passion and commitment of their League Two opponents. He’ll be hoping for better this time around and they will be desperate not to concede sloppy goals.

Wigan tend to keep clean sheets at home, but away from home they’re a little more open. They could only draw 1-1 at Bradford last time out whilst Dale’s last two games both finished goalless.

My second Rochdale v Wigan prediction is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 4/5 with Betfred.

Yanic Wildschut has a couple of months left of his loan from Middlesbrough and has been impressing in Lancashire. The Dutchman may not be one to totally rely on, but he is able to come on and produce a moment of magic. He scored against Blackpool on Tuesday night as he cut in from the left and curled one into the corner. He could cause problems for Rochdale and get himself a goal this weekend.

My third Rochdale v Wigan prediction is for Yanic Wildschut to score anytime. He can be backed at 14/5 with Ladbrokes to score.
