Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was beaming on Saturday as he witnessed his side get their first win since the former Chelsea striker took charge in West London. A comprehensive 3-0 win against Rotherham got the monkey off the back of the former Burton boss and he hopes his side can kick on back at home against Wolves.

 

The men in gold had been the form side in the league, but that all came to an end at Molineux as Cardiff visited with a Craig Noone masterclass putting an end to their winning run. It would have been five wins in a row had they taken maximum points and would have pushed Wolves further towards a play-off spot. Wolves reverted back to some of their questionable early season defending as they let the Bluebirds run riot.

 

It’s been a story of strikers for these two clubs in recent weeks with the away side selling star asset Benik Afobe to Premier League new boys Bournemouth for around £10m. Meanwhile, Charlie Austin’s long awaited and heavily speculated transfer finally culminated with him moving to Southampton for around £4m. The R’s were quick to replace him, snapping up League One star striker Connor Washington from Peterborough.

 

With Sebastian Polter netting in the league last weekend, it gives them a couple of options in forward positions and we already know they have plenty of ammunition from wide positions.

 

Who will score in QPR v Wolves? Michael Zyro has been a revelation since joining Wolves from Legia Warsaw and he is likely to be a thorn in the side of the QPR defence. He has scored three in three games and has a handy knack of popping up in the right positions at the right time. I think he might be a good bet to find the net again in this clash. QPR have conceded nine goals since the middle of December and I think he can find a way through.

Will both teams score in WPR v Wolves? As I mentioned in the above passage, QPR have conceded nine goals since the 15th of December, keeping just a single clean sheet. That was against Rotherham last Saturday. Although the defence will be buoyed by that shutout, they will find Wolves harder to keep at bay. Wolves have scored in each of their last nine matches in the Championship and they look decent going forward. After three consecutive clean sheets over Christmas and New Year, they’ve now conceded five goals in two matches since and it should be at least a goal a-piece here.

Who will win? QPR or Wolves? I think the honours might end up even here. QPR have stopped their run of defeats whilst Wolves have seen their winning run abruptly ended. QPR have only lost once at home since September, drawing six times over that period. Wolves have only lost twice on the road since the start of November, one of those was a real battering to Sheffield Wednesday. They will be desperate not to slip into a losing mentality again and I fancy a point each here.
