QPR v Hull City preview and football tips for the New Years’ Day Championship fixture and the best football predictions for the clash
It’s not been the easiest transition into Championship management for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Whilst his former side Burton continue to ride high in League One, he has overseen no win in five for the Loftus Road club – will QPR get a win against Hull on New Years’ Day 2016?

QPR v Hull City Preview
In fairness, they have had some difficult games, Burnley, Brighton and a trip to Portman Road aren’t particularly enviable, but he will be most disappointed by his side letting the lead slip against both Bristol City and Huddersfield. Both goals were conceded after the 80th minute, so ensuring his side concentrate to the final whistle will be his main priority.
Charlie Austin is once again an absentee and they will miss his presence at the business end of the pitch. They don’t have many strikers on their books, so they will once again largely be relying on firepower from wide areas courtesy of Matty Phillips and Junior Hoilett.
The latter has been a revelation since the arrival of JFH and it seems he is gradually getting his ideas across and using good man-management skills to get the best out of some of the previous underperforming players.
For Hull, their away form is still their Achilles heel and whilst they have been destructive at the KC, they have struggled to convert it into points on the road. No win away since the 3rd of November and just one point from their last four away games is a poor return from Steve Bruce’s side and they can’t afford to drop any more points or they will slip further behind Derby and Middlesbrough.
Steve Bruce may bring in Abel Hernandez to try and add some firepower, but his side need to tighten up at the back first and foremost. After five consecutive clean sheets, they’ve only managed to keep two since the start of November and the absence of Michael Dawson is being felt.
QPR v Hull City Predictions
For my football predictions, it’s hard to make a case for Hull with their poor away form, despite their lofty league position. It’s also hard to justify backing QPR as they can’t seem to hold onto a lead.
With QPR drawing four of their last five games and Hull drawing three times away from home this season, I can see this one ending all square, the same result as I went for in my Brighton v Wolves predictions earlier in the afternoon.
The first of my QPR v Hull betting tips is for the match to end a draw. It can be backed at 9/4 with Bet365.

It’s a very short price, but it seems that goals may be a premium in this one so I’m going for an under 2.5 goals tip. QPR have only scored seven goals since the end of October and without Austin, they look a lot limper. Meanwhile, whilst firing in the goals at home, Hull haven’t netted in their last two away matches at both Preston & Rotherham, two sides in the bottom half of the table.
My second QPR v Hull prediction is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 8/15 with Ladbrokes who are currently offering the best odds.

The aforementioned Junior Hoillett is a man on song and he has scored twice in recent games and according to QPR fans looked a player re-born under the new management. He is most likely to score, if we are to see goals.
The third of my Championship predictions for QPR v Hull on New Years’ Day is for Junior Hoillett to score anytime. The best odds for a Hoilett goal are 11/4 with William Hill.
