Free football betting tips for the Euro 2016 qualifying and Poland v Republic of Ireland betting tips for Sunday’s crunch clash.
It's crunch time for Poland and the Republic of Ireland as they face off in Warsaw on Sunday evening. Tune in to Sky Sports at 7:45pm and here are our match predictions and betting tips.
Poland v Rep of Ireland Predictions
Following their remarkable home win against the World Champions, Ireland have certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons when it comes to the final automatic qualification place in Group D. As it stands, the winner of the tie will qualify. A low scoring draw sees the Poles through, and a high scoring one going the way of the Irish – all presuming that Germany beat Georgia that is! Whichever way you look at it, though, this game should be a cracker.
In the grand scheme of things, Robert Lewandowski's last minute equaliser against the unfortunate Scots in midweek, could prove to be absolutely crucial for the home side. Obviously few would have expected Germany to falter against Ireland, but Poland's point in Scotland certainly puts their fate firmly in their own hands.
Ireland, however, are in a slight predicament when in comes to approaching the match in Poland. They could go all guns blazing and look to get some goals on the board, or play it tight and look to nick it late on. Strictly speaking as a neutral, I hope it is the former! Either way, I can't imagine Poland will be throwing too much caution to the wind knowing a 0-0 or a 1-1 sends them through.
Whilst it would be great to see another home nation qualify for Euro 2016, my gut instinct will be Ireland having to settle for a place in the playoffs. In comparison to England's absolute joke of a group, the Irish – and Scotland for that matter – should certainly count themselves slightly unfortunate to get saddled with both Poland and Germany. In regards to the match, I feel that with home advantage and arguably the best striker in the world, Poland will pinch a tight game.
With this in mind, back Poland to win outright at 19/20 with Coral which is my first Poland v Republic of Ireland betting tip.
Heading into the goalscoring market for the best bet tip on the match and Robert Lewandowski is the only person you should be looking at. Bayern Munich's number nine is leading all the goalscoring charts at present, yet still fetches a decent price in comparison to other strikers in Europe. Like we did against Scotland, back Lewandowski to score the first of the match with Ladbrokes at 10/3. Should he do so in the first 25 minutes, you can expect those odds to double.
My second Poland v Republic of Ireland prediction is for Robert Lewandowski to score first at 10/3 with Ladbrokes.
Finally, after two fairly conservative bets, let's have a bit of a punt seeing a that this is the last round of games. If the match stays at a fairly tight 0-0 for 60 mins then we could certainly expect and Irish bombardment for the last quarter of the game. Ireland have always been very useful from set-pieces and John O'Shea has picked up a few goals over the years from these situations – who could forget his late equaliser in Germany earlier in qualifying.
Therefore, my last Euro 2016 betting tip is to have a crack at O'Shea to score anytime in the match at 22/1 with Bet365.
