Albania to beat Armenia – 13/10

Albania travel to Armenia on the final match day of Group I with everything to play for in the race for Euro 2016 qualification. The visitors can leapfrog Denmark in second and seal their place at next summer’s tournament with victory with the Scandinavians having played all of their matches. Albania have failed to win any of their last three but can add to their three wins and two draws against the groups bottom side in a match they will no doubt be highly motivated for.

 

Armenia have picked up just two points in their seven matches; losing five along the way to mark a campaign to forget. Still without a win and with just five goals to celebrate it’s hard to make a case for them here especially given what’s at stake for their opponents.  

 

Romania to beat Faroe Islands – 2/7

Romania travel to the Faroe Islands on Sunday with qualification still very much in their own hands. They sit in second place in Group F and with just a one point advantage over third; they won’t want to be taking any chances here. Despite drawing their last four matches, a win will seal their place at France next summer and leave them unbeaten in the group. They’ve picked up four wins and five draws so far, and with just two goals conceded they look firm favourites to win here.

 

Faroe Islands as expected have struggled once again and have managed just two wins along with seven defeats so far. Finishing ahead of Greece will go down as an achievement but with the gulf in quality likely to show once more, it’s hard to see them picking up anything as the group draws to a close.

 

Poland and Republic of Ireland to draw – 23/10

A huge match in Group D sees Ireland travel to Poland in a straight shoot out for qualification after the midweek results. Poland’s last minute equaliser against Scotland has left them in second place on goal difference ensuring they just need a point to book their place at the tournament proper. The home side have been impressive so far with five wins and just one defeat in nine games and in Robert Lewandowski they have arguably the world’s best centre forward at present.

 

Ireland meanwhile will be bouncing after defeating Germany in midweek which has guaranteed them a play off spot at the very least. They travel to Poland however knowing that victory will see them snatch second place meaning there’s plenty at stake for both sides. The visitors have performed above expectations and have an identical record to their hosts with five wins, three draws and just one defeat.

 

It promises to be a tense game on Sunday given the prize on offer, and Ireland will know they have to come out and win the game to achieve their goal. But given Poland’s form it’s going to be a tough ask and they could fall just short. The home side just need a point, and look more than capable of securing it. With this in mind it’s certainly worth backing the draw.
