Over 2.5 Goals Accumulator Tips
Bury v Gillingham
Bury ended their recent away hoodoo with a well-deserved point at Blackpool, but they are back at Gigg Lane where they have scored 65% of their goals this season. Their last game ended 2-2 when they drew with Shrewsbury. Gillingham are the visitors this week and they are one of the more productive teams when it comes to landing Over 2.5 bets. 65% of their games this season have featured three or more goals. They’ve scored an average of 1.73 goals a game which is one of the better records in the league. They’ve also only kept three clean sheets all season away from home and whilst Bury haven’t been prolific of late, they did hit five against Colchester here recently and another three against Peterborough.
Mansfield v Northampton
It’s easy to point to a side romping the league like Northampton and assume they are going to hit goals each and every week, but I think Mansfield will play their part here. The Cobblers have hit seven in their last two away games, so they are likely to find a way through, but Mansfield are not an easy side to shrug off. True, they’re in their poorest run of the season, but they’ve hit six in their last four home games however they’ve conceded in their last 13 home games and kept just a single clean sheet since late October. Northampton have battled to victories on the road recently with a 3-2 victory at the Lamex against Stevenage and a 4-1 win away at Carlisle wasn’t as easy as perhaps it sounded. The leaders have only failed to score once since the end of August and their away matches boast a 55% strike rate for Over 2.5 goals.
Carlisle v Bristol Rovers
It’s very difficult to stop Bristol Rovers right now as they march up the table. They hit another three at home to Cambridge on Friday and just seem to be swimming in goals of late. Darrell Clarke’s side look a very decent proposition for the automatic spots now and they’ve scored 17 goals in six matches. They travel a fair distance to Carlisle on Easter Monday, but that isn’t likely to stop them. Two of Carlisle’s last three home matches have featured three or more goals in them and I think this will be another high scoring match for the away side. The Cumbrians have drawn five of their last six matches and will look to stop the Gas, but that’s easier said than done. Rovers have scored in 13 consecutive matches and boast a 53% strike rate for Overs on the road. These two are the league’s 5th and 7th highest scoring teams.
Cambridge v Oxford
Oxford are always worth backing on this market when they’re away from home and they face the short trip to Cambridge. Just one day after the boat race between these two universities, the football clubs meet and will hopefully play out a high scoring affair. Oxford have scored 57% of their goals away from home and will be looking to boost their automatic promotion credentials against a side who have just tailed off. 52% of their away games have featured three or more goals, but crucially 63% of Cambridge’s home matches have gone the same way. Oxford are the second highest scorers in the league and their last four away matches have all featured at least three goals. Cambridge have hit three in two of their last four home matches and have scored 53% of their goals here at the Abbey.
Lincoln v Gateshead
Our final selection comes from the National League as Lincoln look to put some recent poor form behind them. The home side have lost three in a row, but have been conceding them for fun along the way. They’ve conceded nine goals in three matches and they welcome Gateshead to Sincil Bank, who still have faint hopes of a play-off place. Two of the Heed’s last three away matches have finished with Over 2.5 goals and they’ll be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Macclesfield here with a victory on their travels. 65% of Lincoln’s games have finished with both teams scoring and that should give Gateshead plenty of hope of finding the net. The hosts have kept just one clean sheet in seven and Gateshead will be afforded plenty of opportunity. Lincoln have scored in every match since January 16th and this one should see a few goals.
