Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham predictions and betting tips for the Friday night Championship fixture including an anytime goalscorer and head to head stats.
One of two Championship games on Friday night comes from the City Ground as Nottingham Forest host Birmingham City. We’ve got the best football tips for the 19:45 kick off.
Domestic football is back and it begins in Nottinghamshire. Phillipe Montanier’s side have been entertainers and have certainly given their fans value for money, but a clean sheet is surely a priority. Forest are the second highest conceders in the league behind lowly Rotherham. Luckily for the Tricky Trees, they have been scoring, but there is much concern at the back. Fans are largely positive towards their boss and have backed the Frenchman, but there is still instability behind the scenes. Britt Assombalonga’s injury problems haven’t helped matters and the sale of Oliver Burke has taken some creativity out of the side. They haven’t won since August, but have had some difficult games against the likes of Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City. Birmingham have been a tough side to beat this season and Gary Rowett’s side went into the International Break in terrific form, unbeaten in seven. They haven’t been beaten away from home conceding a measly three goals in the process. Rowett was one of the names linked with the recent Aston Villa vacancy but the Blues will be delighted he’s staying put as there is plenty to be positive about around St Andrews.
Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Predictions
It’s an interesting contrast of styles here with Birmingham keeping things tight on the road and playing out low scoring affairs whilst Forest have scored and conceded plenty here with many of their games featuring goals a-plenty. Birmingham could take advantage of the porous Forest defence and with the continued absence of their talismanic striker, Forest could struggle to break Birmingham down so my first Nottm Forest vs Birmingham prediction is Birmingham on the draw no bet market.

Forest so often concede two goals and they haven’t found the right defensive combination. They haven’t been helped by injuries either though. Birmingham have more firepower with the additions of Che Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz, they should be able to get a couple of goals here which is reflected in my second Nottm Forest vs Birmingham betting tip for Friday.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips
It’s a toss-up between Jutkiewicz and Donaldson for our anytime goalscorer tip and I’ll opt for the latter. He’s a slightly shorter price, but often plays the majority of the match and is often on penalty duty.
Clayton Donaldson anytime goalscorer – 9/5 with Ladbrokes: sign-up get a £50 free bet.
Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Team News
Britt Assombalonga is back in training following his latest setback, but it’s unlikely he’ll make it in time for this match. The big striker is likely to be on the sidelines alongside Daniel Pinillos and Matty Cash.
Hildeberto Pereira, Damien Perquis and Michael Mancienne should hand their manager a boost by declaring themselves fit for this one.
Donaldson may have missed the last game, but he is back to fitness and is an almost certain starter for Gary Rowett’s men. Robert Tesche and Michael Kieftenbeld should both return to the midfield.
The only injury worry for Birmingham is the absence of Paul Caddis, who has a shoulder injury.
Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Head to Head
These sides drew 1-1 the last time they met with both goals coming in the first half. It’s been a fairly even split with both Forest and Birmingham winning two of the last five. Birmingham last won here on in December 2014 when they ran out 3-1 winners with Clayton Donaldson scoring twice and David Cotterill adding another.
Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Betting Odds
The prices are quite nice here with the draw heavily fancied at around 12/5. Birmingham are a big price for a side in-form. 9/5 and 15/8 are available for the Blues. Forest are roughly 6/4 to get their first victory since August. Britt Assombalonga leads the way in the goalscorer market, but he is unlikely to start. Clayton Donaldson is next in the market at around 6/1 for first goalscorer, he netted against Forest here in 2014.
