Norwich vs Aston Villa betting tips and Championship predictions for the Championship fixture on Tuesday 13th December plus reasons for each betting tip.
There’s a full Championship fixture list in mid-week and one of the standout games is Norwich v Aston Villa. We’ve got the three best bets for the televised match.
Aston Villa got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Wigan. It may look like an unconvincing scoreline, but the Villains were knocking on the door throughout and could have been three or four up by half time. Wigan have a decent away record and have held many sides to draws here. They recently beat Huddersfield and are no mugs on their travels. It was imperative that Villa picked up all three points. Jack Grealish was the hero and he’s said he wants to knuckle down and make the headlines for the right reasons. Time will tell. Steve Bruce’s side will look to put their recent Elland Road defeat behind them with an away victory here. They’ve won just once in 10 matches on the road and despite Norwich’s dodgy recent form, travelling to Carrow Road won’t be easy. Steve Bruce is gearing up for a busy transfer window as he shapes his squad for a shot at promotion and attempts to meet those pre-season expectations.
Norwich were another team predicted to be towards the top of the tree, but an inconsistent couple of months has seen them drop out of the play-offs. They weren’t able to follow up a resounding 5-0 victory over Brentford, going down 2-1 at Oakwell. Alex Neil blamed himself afterwards, claiming his tactics didn’t work. To be fair to the boss, he didn’t change a winning team and most managers would have done similar in his shoes. For all the misery at the moment, their home form isn’t bad. It’s the sixth best in the league and they’ve picked up 6 wins and lost just twice (one of those in injury time to Leeds). They’ve hit 19 goals here and are still a force to be reckoned with in East Anglia. A win here could see them propelled back into the play-off picture and relieve the pressure on the under-fire Neil.
Norwich vs Aston Villa Betting Predictions
Norwich have decent home form whilst Villa don’t win many away from home. Steve Bruce’s men have drawn 50% of their away games though and I think they can add to that stat here with a hard earned point so our first Norwich vs Aston Villa prediction is a draw.
Draw – 12/5 with Sporting Bet: BET.
Norwich like a high-scoring game, but Villa tend to avoid them. The away defence has been watertight in the last few weeks and 8 of their 10 away games have finished with fewer than three goals in them. Back Norwich to find it difficult to break through for our second Norwich vs Aston Villa betting tip.
Under 2.5 Goals – 4/5 with Ladbrokes: BET.
Two of Villa’s three away games have ended 1-1 and I can’t put anyone off backing the same outcome here so we’re going for that as our correct score prediction to complete these Norwich vs Aston Villa tips.
Correct Score 1-1 – 6/1 with Unibet: BET.
Norwich vs Aston Villa Team News
Steve Bruce could name a very similar team to Saturday. Jonathon Kodjia got the nod as the frontman, Ross McCormack is back to full fitness and could rival him for that spot. Rudy Gestede also has a decent goal to minute goal in the Championship and could feature at some point. Ashley Westwood and Aaron Tshibola will also be pushing for a start.
Alex Neil kept the same team for the second game running on Saturday, but it backfired. Yousuff Mulumbu could come in to beef up the midfield, possibly at the expense of Graham Dorrans. Martin Olsson will also be pushing for a start, he hasn’t featured since getting sent off against QPR.
Norwich vs Aston Villa Head to Head
Norwich beat Villa 2-0 here in December 2015 in the Premier League with goals from Mbokani and Howson. Villa do have a decent record here though, winning three of the last four visits to Carrow Road in league and cup. Only one of the last six encounters here has finished all square.
Norwich vs Aston Villa Betting Odds
Norwich start as favourites for this at around 7/5 with Villa priced around 2/1. Our selection – the draw is around 12/5. Both teams are fancied to get on the scoresheet with 8/11 available.
