Norwich v Arsenal Predictions

 

During this run of one win in eight, the Canaries have lost five of their last six in the league, though they did win last time they played at home with a 1-0 win over Swansea City. That result was sandwiched in between losses away at Manchester City and Chelsea, and with Arsenal coming to town it looks tough for Norwich to get any kind of good run going. After this one they go to Watford then face an in-form Everton at home before travelling to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur and it’s hard to see where a win is going to come from. It’s looking tough for Norwich, even at this stage of the season.

 

They face an Arsenal side who have won ten of their last 13 Premier League away games. Before their 1-1 draw in the North London derby they’d won five consecutive league matches, though these were interspersed with poor performances in Europe. They slipped up last weekend with a defeat away at West Bromwich Albion but with a confidence boosting win over Dinamo Zagreb midweek Arsenal should really be taking all three points here.

 

I say should. The Gunners do have a tendency to drop points when you least expect them to, messing up everyone’s accumulator betting slips in the process. I just don’t think Alex Neil’s men have enough to win, whichever Arsenal turns up.

 

Norwich team news vs Arsenal – The home side are still without midfielder Alex Tettey, who is a huge miss for them, as well as Matt Jarvis who’s still a few weeks from a return. Kyle Lafferty should make the squad though. The striker, who has been fantastic for Northern Ireland in their European Championship qualifying campaign, has found chances hard to come by at Carrow Road, not really making the most of the chances he does get. Arsenal team news vs Norwich – As for Arsenal, they might be able to welcome back Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain but they’ll be without Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta after both picked up injuries in the defeat at the Hawthorns. Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere are both a couple of weeks away but one man who should start is Alexis Sanchez. Arsene Wenger hinted this week that he’ll start this one despite his concerns about tiredness, and after bagging two goals against Zagreb I’m going for him to score first in this one.

It’s difficult to know which Arsenal will turn up in what could be a tricky away game, but after slipping up last weekend I can’t see them doing the same again. With Norwich missing the influential Tettey and with strikers Jerome and Mbokani hardly amongst the goals, despite decent performances, I don’t think the Canaries will cause too many problems.
