Leeds have been in terrific form ahead of the International Break and will be looking to getting back into the swing of things without any further interruptions, but matches don’t come any tougher than this. Newcastle are top of the league and the goals are flowing. Garry Monk concurred and suggested Newcastle were by far the best team in the league and he stressed his approach will not change ahead of this match. The Toon are fallible though as they were beaten by Wolves, Fulham and Huddersfield earlier in the season, but the Championship is the kind of league which throws up unexpected results. Since a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, Rafa Benitez’s side haven’t looked back and they’ve won their subsequent eight games in all competitions. With Alexander Mitrovic in the side, they can chop and change the frontline, ensuring there is no over-reliance on Dwight Gayle to fire them back to the Premier League. Leeds will be tough opposition and are unbeaten in four matches coming into this. They completed a comeback against Norwich last time out showing terrific spirit and they never looked like getting beaten at home to Burton. Pontus Janssen is getting admiring glances from all around. He’s steadied the ship after an error strewn few months for the Leeds backline.

Monk said he was disappointed that Pablo Hernandez picked up an injury. He injured his hamstring against Norwich and this match will come too soon for him.
Liam Bridcutt is still out, but has resumed training and should be back by the end of the month.
Stuart Dallas isn’t far away from a comeback either and could feature in some capacity here.
Rolando Aarons has ruptured his knee and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Massadio Haidara is also an absentee.
Matt Ritchie returns from suspension and could come into the starting 11.
