Hull v Brighton betting tips

Hull City vs Brighton Predictions and Betting Tips – 16/02/16

Hull City v Brighton betting tips and Championship predictions for betting on this week’s fixture on Tuesday 16th February kicking-off at 7.45pm.

Brighton are back in form after their mid-season blip but their mini-run looks vulnerable against high flying Hull City who are looking to make it a 6th consecutive win at the KC Stadium – who will win between Hull and Brighton this week?

Hull City v Brighton Predictions

As we entered 2016, it looked like we wouldn’t be mentioning the name of Brighton in the same sentence as ‘promotion’ for quite some time, but like Alan Partridge, they have bounced back and they find themselves in 4th position looking upwards. As they look gaze towards the skyline, they can see Burnley within reach, a wobbly Middlesbrough and this week’s opponents – Hull City.

Steve Bruce’s men are on a good run of form and are particularly hard to beat here at the KC. Just a single defeat in front of their own fans all season is promotion winning form. They’ve drawn twice here as well, both in September, but they’ve collected three points on every other occasion.

They’ve conceded just a single goal in their last five home matches, scoring 14 goals in the process. That figure includes the hitting of six against hapless Charlton though.

It’s four wins on the bounce for the Seagulls, but they were made to work against bottom club Bolton at the weekend, being pegged back twice before out firing their opponents thanks to midfielder Beram Kayal. The influx of a few loanees has really kick-started their season again and given them fresh impetus. Anthony Knockaert has added the pace and trickery that was missing following Kazenga Lua Lua’s injury setback. Liam Ridgewell has added some experience at the back, which perhaps makes up for the absence of Gordon Greer and Liam Rosenior.

They have plenty of options on the bench as well, should Chris Hughton wish to make changes. Andrew Crofts and the aforementioned Lua Lua are back to fitness whilst loanee Steve Sidwell was an unused substitute against the Trotters.

They say one of the keys to promotion is having a striker who can score 20 goals a season. Hull’s Abel Hernandez isn’t far away from that total with 16 to his name so far. He has scored nine of those 16 here at the KC and is looking a quality addition to the squad. The second highest goalscorer is Mo Diame who only has five, so it’s important that Steve Bruce keeps the Uruguayan in good shape for the rest of the campaign.

Bruce insists his side have got more in the tank and a straightforward victory over Blackburn was perhaps a good warm up for a more difficult assignment against a fellow top six side. The Hull squad appear to have a unity about them and they always seem to bounce back from a defeat. It’s unlikely too many changes will be made for this match as there is an upcoming FA Cup match with Arsenal at the weekend.

I think Hull look the real deal and they are extremely solid at the back. Brighton are exciting going forward but with the absence of Greer, there are still a few questions at the back and the fact they let Bolton find the net twice worries me. They’ve only won on the road once since the 17th of October and I have to side with the home side.

My first Hull City v Brighton prediction is for Hull City to win. The best odds for Hull City to beat Brighton are currently 4/5 with Paddy Power.

Hull hit Burnley for three here recently and they are pretty ruthless going forward. In their last nine games, they’ve only hit one goal or fewer twice. Strangely, one of those was against Bolton, the other was against Derby, who were in-form at the time. With questions over Brighton’s backline and the fact they’ve scored three times past both the Clarets and Middlesbrough here this season, I’m predicting Hull will bag a couple of goals here.

My second football prediction for Hull City v Brighton is for Hull City to score over 1.5 team goals. This can be backed at 11/10 with Bet365.

There’s only one sensible bet in the goalscorer markets for my last football tip on the match. We’ve mentioned him already, but the price is a little skinny on Abel Hernandez anytime. It might be best to back the 16 goal man as the first goalscorer.

My third Hull City v Brighton prediction is a first goalscorer tip and Abel Hernandez to score first. He can backed at 5/1 with Bet365.
