Hull City v Derby County Predictions
It’s 1st v 4th in the Championship fixture tonight as both sides try and gain an early advantage on their promotion rivals. Hull could only manage a point away at Bristol City on Saturday, but it was enough to keep them top of the table. Uncharacteristically for Steve Bruce’s side, they conceded a goal, but they hit back and could have nicked a winner at the end. They lost Michael Dawson to injury at Ashton Gate, which is a blow as the captains look set for 3-4 weeks on the sidelines.
On the plus side, they have a ready-made replacement in the shape of Curtis Davies to step and help them continue their significant clean sheet haul this season.
It doesn’t get much trickier than this though as they host a Derby side who have only lost twice all season and bounced back from their East Midlands derby disappointment with a win on Saturday.
They have kept a huge number of clean sheet also and it’s no surprise to see these two sides top of the defensive table with just 20 goals conceded between them all season. Hull have only shipped nine all campaign, whilst two of Derby’s 11 have come in their last two away matches.
Six of the Ram’s 11 goals were conceded before September 12th, so they’ve definitely tightened up since then. They also have plenty of firepower as they found their way past Cardiff at the weekend, the 5th best defence in the league.
Hull have only failed to score once all season, that was away at Brighton. Unsurprisingly they’re unbeaten at home, having dropped just four points here all season.
I think they will cause Derby a few problems here and find a way through. With Derby not as secure at the back on the road, the Tigers should come out on top.
My first Hull v Derby prediction is for Hull Draw No Bet, the best odds for tonight’s first football betting tip are 8/11 with Ladbrokes.

Despite Hull’s ability to find the back of the net, I can’t help look towards these sides respective defensive records and admire the defensive resolve. To have only conceded two goals by this stage of the season is remarkable whilst 11 is pretty impressive too. It could be tight and one goal could settle it.
My second Hull v Derby betting tip is for both teams not to score. It can be backed at 5/6 with Bet Victor.

Hull have plenty of players who are capable of scoring goals from all over the pitch with former Chicago Fire man Shaun Maloney grabbling the goal on Saturday lunchtime. Going for a slightly bigger price with this football tip, with Curtis Davies back in the team, he is a constant ariel threat and nuisance from set pieces. He scored plenty of goals for Birmingham from corners and nodded a couple in the Premier League also. He could be the man to break the deadlock.
My third Hull v Derby prediction is for Curtis Davies to score anytime. He is 12/1 with William Hill.
