Wednesday’s Accumulator Tips
Inter v Lazio Tip – Lazio Draw or Win (Double Chance)
This is a fascinating clash in Serie A as Inter boss Stefan Pioli goes back to his former club. Pioli only left Lazio in April and is starting to make his mark at the San Siro with three wins from the last four. They have been decent here all season and even clinched their first away win under the new boss on Sunday. Lazio have bounced back from derby day defeat to Roma with consecutive wins against Sampdoria and Fiorentina. Neither of those fixtures could be classified as easy and they came through with flying colours. Simone Inzaghi’s side have been a joy to watch this season and are troubling the top end of the table. They rarely lose and although they clean sheets are few and far between, they have plenty of goals in the side. Ciro Immobile will be keen to start scoring again, he’s signed a new contract with the club, but is without a goal since the 30th of October. Lazio seem mentally stronger than Inter and the away side have a good record against Inter, winning their last visit in December 2015.
Lille v Rennes Tip – Lille win
Plenty of fixtures in Ligue 1 on Wednesday night as Lille look a good bet to get the job done at home to Rennes for our accumulator bet. The hosts have improved under their new boss and he had taken 10 points from the last 4 matches before defeat at improving Marseille at the weekend. At home, they’ve won three of the last five beating Montpellier, Caen and Bastia and were only narrowly defeated by PSG and Lyon here (1-0). They look solid at home and should be hard to break down. Rennes are poor travellers and Christian Gourcuff has plenty of work to do during the winter break. Their home form has been outstanding, but they lost to Bastia at Roazhon Park at the weekend and it’s now three defeats in five. Away from home, they’ve won just 1 of 8 this season and they haven’t netted in three of their last five games on the road.
Lyon v Angers Tip – Lyon win
A short priced addition to the footy accumulator in the shape of Lyon. The hosts have been playing well recently with 3 victories in their last 4 games; the other was abandoned! Bruno Genesio’s side have been playing well and keeping clean sheets with neither Rennes or Nantes getting on the scoresheet. Possibly the most eye-catching result came this weekend as they were victorious at Stade Louis II beating Monaco by 3 goals to 1. A superb result considering Leonardo Jardim’s side had won 7 of their 9 matches at home and netted a whopping 32 goals in the process. Angers are in a dreadful run of form and have picked up just a single point from their last five matches. They’ve lost three of their last five away games and confidence is clearly very low at this moment in time.
Ingolstadt v Freiburg Tip – Ingolstadt win
Ingolstadt have suddenly got going and are hoping to lift themselves out of the relegation zone ahead of the winter break. They were the first side to defeat leaders (at the time) RB Leipzig with a 2-1 win. They newly promoted club have since bounced back with a victory. They followed it up with a superb 1-0 win over Leverkusen and are suddenly a frightening prospect for any side to face. They’ve won three of the last five games and only Bremen have taken maximum points from them. This is not relegation form, they should be much higher up the table. Freiburg have been playing well, but haven’t won on the road since the end of October. They have picked up just 2 points from their last couple of games on the road and will also want to keep it tight. The home side should make it a hat-trick of Bundesliga victories.
Deportivo v Betis Tip – Deportivo to win
Our final selection comes from the Copa Del Rey as Deportivo host Betis. Two La Liga sides aren’t often pitched together at this stage of the competition, but that’s the way it’s fallen and Betis have a 1 nil advantage from the first leg. Deportivo are a decent side though and are improving. They thrashed Sociedad 5-1 here and then followed it up with a confident 2-0 win against Osasuna here on Sunday. Betis arrive here off the back of three straight away defeats and although Victor Sanchez has clearly improved their home form, there is still plenty of work to be done on the road. It could end 1-0 to Deportivo and require extra time to separate the sides, but as long as the hosts lead after 90 minutes, we don’t mind!
