Football Accumulator Tips this Week
Sheffield Wednesday v QPR – Sheffield Wednesday Win
The Owls faced a setback in their hunt for promotion as they lost at Preston. The Lilywhites are tough to beat, particularly of late. They also had Fernando Forestieri dismissed early on and he will be a miss tonight. However, QPR laboured to a draw with bottom side Bolton at the weekend and it’s just one win in five for the Rs now. They’re quite hard to beat, but the way they collapsed against rivals Fulham must be a concern for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. They’ve beaten Leeds and Brentford here and they got a creditable draw with Burnley. Wednesday have the third best home form in the league whilst QPR have taken just 17 points from their 16 away games. Without Forestieri, Wednesday still have enough firepower to take this and get our acca tip off to a winning start.
Bristol City v Brighton – Bristol City win
City have been playing well and it’s now three wins in a row with new manager Lee Johnson taking it all in his stride. They beat Ipswich here last time out and held Birmingham to a goalless draw at Ashton Gate. In-between they’ve won away at relegation rivals MK Dons and Charlton. Brighton’s quest for automatic promotion could well be hampered by their poor away form. They found themselves 3-0 down inside 36 minutes at Cardiff on Saturday and it’s just one win in four on the road for the Seagulls and they’ve only won four times all season when on their travels. Jonathon Kodjia got a couple of goals at the weekend and he could have reignited his early season goalscoring form and could be crucial in the Robins’ ascent up the table.
Rochdale v Fleetwood – Rochdale win
Fleetwood got a much needed win at the weekend at home to Scunthorpe, but they are still notoriously poor travellers with only Colchester and neighbours Blackpool claiming fewer points on the road. They travel to Spotland, a ground where the hosts are generally strong. They have won five times here this season, but they’ve been few and far between recently. A terrific win over leaders Burton was followed by a defeat to Millwall (although they are a decent away outfit) and the throwing away of a two goal lead against struggling Crewe. 24 points from 15 home games though is enough evidence to suggest they can get the points here. They held in-form Bradford to a draw at the weekend, which suggests they will be a tough nut to crack here.
AFC Wimbledon v Carlisle – AFC Wimbledon win
AFC Wimbledon have the second best form in the league and have been helped by striker Lyle Taylor’s goals. An in-form marksman is always a handy weapon and his goals could help Wimbledon with an unexpected push for the play-offs. They beat Luton 4-1 in their latest outing at Kingsmeadow and previously held Bristol Rovers to a draw after seeing off away specialists Mansfield by three goals to one. Neal Ardley has done a superb job on a limited budget and I don’t think many would begrudge them a place in the end of season shake up. Carlisle haven’t been playing badly this season, Keith Curle has his side playing well, but they’ve been weaker on their travels, taking just three points from their last four away games and losing away at Newport was a poor result a couple of weeks back.
Exeter v Oxford – Oxford win
Oxford have been much better away from home this season than at the Kassam as illustrated by losing 1-2 to Accrington at the weekend. On the road they’ve been solid though, losing just twice and seeing nine of their 15 wins away from home. They have plenty of firepower in their squad and should be able to get the better of Exeter. They’ve recently beaten Portsmouth, Notts County and Morecambe on the road. Exeter have been inconsistent all season, winning five, losing four and drawing six of their home matches. They failed to hold on against Newport at the weekend, drawing 1-1 and if you offered them a point now, I’m sure they would take it. I think Oxford will have too much though as they continue to enjoy life on the road and complete our Tuesday night football accumulator.
