Football Accumulator Tips this Week:
Sunderland v Crystal Palace – Sunderland win
Crystal Palace have gone from outsiders for a top six spot to suddenly looking over their shoulders after a dreadful run of results which includes a defeat to Aston Villa. They have gone 10 without a win now and even though Sunderland are down the wrong end of the table, they have become harder to beat. Sam Allardyce was always going to tighten things up and that’s exactly what he’s done. They’ve become hard to break down, particularly at the Stadium of Light where they beat Manchester United, drew with Bournemouth and narrowly lost to City by a single goal. Palace were a decent side on the road earlier in the season, but they’ve collected just a single point in their last four away trips and haven’t won in five away games. Connor Wickham scored twice at the weekend which is a positive before he takes on his former employers. But Palace aren’t playing with enough confidence and I think they’ll come undone here – probably from a set piece.
The odds for Sunderland to beat Crystal Palace are 8/5 at bet365 – you won’t find better!
Barnsley v Coventry – Barnsley win
Barnsley are fast creeping up on the play-off spots and have kept their good run going despite the defection of manager Lee Johnson. They came from behind against Crewe at the weekend to win 2-1 and it was their 6th win in eight. They’ve won their last four home matches scoring 12 goals and conceding just two. Sam Winnall is in tremendous goalscoring form and I think they can carry that momentum on here for my accumulator tip. Coventry were strangely out of sorts at home to Fleetwood at the weekend and have become oddly inconsistent – following up a 6-0 win with a 1-2 defeat. They recently got hit for three on the road by Southend, who are just a point better off than Barnsley and I think they’ll come undone here against a very effective Barnsley side at Oakwell. There’s the extra incentive for Barnsley to go level on points with the Sky Blues with a victory tonight.
The odds for Barnsley to beat Coventry are 11/8 at bet365 – you won’t find better!
Oldham v Port Vale – Oldham win
Oldham still have the worst home form in the league, but that could soon change as they’ve tightened up and improved dramatically under John Sheridan. Since the former Plymouth boss has taken over, they have conceded just three goals in the last six matches and have beaten Peterborough and Gillingham and drawn with in-form Scunthorpe (an 88th minute equaliser from the Iron). They are just a single point away from safety now and I think they could get all three points here. Port Vale have been in decent form recently, but they’ve only won four times away from home against Fleetwood and Blackpool and during poor runs from Barnsley and Doncaster (it seems they only like playing in West Lancashire or South Yorkshire). They’ve been inconsistent away from home and have lost three of their last four on the road. This is the sort of game that will be won by a single goal, probably arriving in the second half and we’re hoping it goes Oldham’s way.
The odds for Oldham to beat Port Vale are 7/5 at bet365.
Southend v Crewe – Southend win
Southend were done for in the first half against Port Vale on Friday night, as they found themselves 3-0 down after 36 minutes. They are back at Roots Hall now though where they are very strong. They’ve won nine of their 16 matches here this season including their last three against Colchester, Coventry and Burton Albion. Phil Brown has his side on the fringes of the play-offs and I think they can increase their hopes against Crewe. The Railwaymen are struggling for form and are not propping up the table by virtue of Colchester being so awful. They’ve been scoring goals, netting in each of their last six games in the league, but they’ve been conceding far too many and they might not be able to cope with the Southend attacks.
The odds for Southend to beat Crewe are 8/13 at bet365.
Luton Town v Morecambe – Luton to win
Luton took all three points back from Bootham Crescent at the weekend, which isn’t as easy as it appears with York having tightened up at home. They scored three times and are looking upwards under their new boss Nathan Jones. It’s three wins in four now for the Hatters and I think they beat horrendously out-of-form Morecambe. The Shrimps have picked up just a single point from their last eight matches as manager Jim Bentley tries his best to end the poor run. Morecambe cannot afford to get sucked into a relegation battle and they do have enough firepower to stay out of it. They are one of the highest scorers in League Two, but their defence continually crumbles. Luton have netted seven times in their last four matches and I think they will find Morecambe’s defence fairly generous, bet on Luton to complete our football accumulator this week.
The odds for Luton to beat Morecambe are 10/11 at bet365.
