Football Accumulator Tips 4/12/16
Sampdoria v Torino – Draw
One of the 2pm Serie A kick offs and this one looks set to end all square. Sampdoria are very strong at home and have won the last four, but Torino are also on their own unbeaten run. Sampdoria progressed in the Coppa Italia here in midweek and will fancy their chances of following up that success. They are unbeaten four Serie A games and came from 2 goals behind to beat out-of-form Sassuolo last time here. Torino won’t be carved apart as easily though. They’ve won two of their seven away games this season, but have only lost once in five and will be intent of maintaining their position on the brink of the European positions. On their travels, they’ve only beaten sides inside the bottom three whilst they’ve only lost to sides inside the top eight. Sampdoria sit in 11th and have drawn two of their last four games. These sides played out a 2-2 draw at Stadio Luigi Ferraris last season.
Sassuolo v Empoli – Sassuolo win
Sassuolo have been dreadful of late and had lost four consecutive Serie A games before putting in an improved display at Napoli. That will give the Neoverdi hope and something to build on. This looks like a straightforward fixture for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side who should collect all three points. Empoli were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in midweek and are struggling for goals. 7 in 14 doesn’t make good reading and they embarked on a scoreless 8 game run earlier in the campaign. They haven’t been able to put together a run of results and sit one place above the relegation zone. Sassuolo still have plenty of injuries, but they are out of the Europa League and can solely aim on moving up the table and improving their domestic form, starting with this game.
Gijon v Osasuna – Gijon win
A basement battle in La Liga which should go in favour of the home side. Both of these sides have lost games recently, but Gijon have looked better and they’ve been scoring goals. They gave Real Madrid a scare last weekend, battling back from 2-0 down to almost snatch something. They’ve won twice at home so far this season, but have only lost here to in-form Sociedad, Barcelona and Valencia. They held Sevilla to a draw here at the end of October and have netted in their last four La Liga games. They almost snatched something against Malaga as well. Osasuna have had little to cheer. They slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Leganes in their last away match in a poor quality match. They didn’t score a competitive goal in November and slumped to another defeat in the Copa Del Rey against bottom side Granada.
Athletic Bilbao v Eibar – Bilbao win
Another game from La Liga which should see victory at the San Memes Stadium for the home side. Bilbao have been very strong here at home and you can usually rely on them to pick up the points. They beat Villareal here a couple of weekends ago in a lacklustre game which saw them severely restrict the away side’s chances. They have won four of their six home games here this season, but will have to do this without striker Adritz Adruiz who is suspended following his sending off at Las Palmas. Eibar have tremendous home form which has moved them up the standings, but they haven’t been able to recreate it on the road. They have just a single victory on the road which came at bottom club Granada. They’ve picked up just two points from their last four away games and there is room for improvement. Only Barcelona have won here this season, Eibar are unlikely to be added to that list.
Nice v Toulouse – Nice win
The papers continue to write off Nice, but the leaders re-established a gap from Monaco in midweek with a 1-0 victory at Guingamp. Monaco stumbled at Dijon and Les Rouges et Blanc continue to lead the pack. They face out-of-form Toulouse on Sunday evening. The visitors have dropped off alarmingly after a decent start to the campaign. They did return to winning ways with victory over Montpellier at home in midweek, but they still have a number of key injuries which haven’t had chance to heal. Nice continue to defend heroically and have only conceded 7 goals since the middle of September. They need to improve their performance here after only drawing 1-1 with Bastia last weekend, but Lucien Favre’s side will have learnt from their mistakes and will be more clinical here.
