Football Accumulator Tips 11th December
Southampton v Middlesbrough – Draw
Our first selection comes from the non-televised Premier League game from St Marys. Southampton have kept it tight at home and since Chelsea took all three points back, they haven’t conceded a goal. They have been erratic on the road with their 3-0 loss at the hands of out of form Crystal Palace making them hard to predict on their travels. Charlie Austin is missing this game through a shoulder injury and Shane Long will be leading the line here. Middlesbrough picked up a much needed three points on Monday night against Hull and will be buoyed by that result. They have also been solid and picked up points at the KP, Emirates and the Etihad. They are fast becoming a tough team to beat, similar to their style in the Championship last season. Two battling sides should end the match all square.
Atalanta v Udinese – Atalanta win
The hosts should be able to battle back from their first defeat in eight games. They went to the Juventus Stadium full of confidence, but came away with nothing. They performed well, but couldn’t take their chances. They are a terrific side though and should be able to get back on track. Several of their players will be subject of interest in January and they’ll do well to hold onto the likes of Franck Kessie and Jasmin Kurtic. Udinese scored late on to secure all three points in Udine on Monday, but their away form hasn’t been brilliant this season. They’ve lost three of the last five games on the road and have netted just 7 times In 7 games. Their only victory on the road recently came at struggling Palermo, who are still yet to win at home.
Palermo v Chievo – Palermo win
Which moves us on nicely to our third selection – Palermo. They haven’t won at home all season, but this is their best opportunity. There’s a new man in charge and Eugenio Corini got the best out of his side on Sunday as they fell to a 90th minute Fiorentina winner in Florence. It was a spirited performance from the strugglers, who have shown enough in that defeat to suggest that elusive victory is on its way. They posed threat during that game and should be able to see off Chievo. The visitors aren’t great on the road and are struggling for goals. They have lost to second bottom (bottom at the time) Crotone and their miserable record on their travels should continue here.
Schalke v Leverkusen – Schalke win
Schalke have been excellent this season and they’ve won their last four home matches. They were narrowly defeated by the leaders RB Leipzig last week, but I’m confident they can get back on track. They have been very efficient going forward and pretty tough at the back. They’ve hit 13 goals in that run of victories and they should have too much for an out-of-form Leverkusen side. The visitors have lost three of the last five away games – all by a 2-1 scoreline and could be vulnerable here. They haven’t been victorious since a 3-2 win over Darmstadt at the start of November and have been conceded too many soft goals recently.
Real Betis v Athletic Bilbao – Betis win
Victor Sanchez has improved Betis since taking over and he’s picked up four points from a possible six at home. They weren’t far away from beating Celta Vigo, but were pegged back by a last minute equaliser. There are plenty of positives to be taken from the recent results and they can bag another home victory here. Bilbao competed in the Europa League on Thursday evening and have struggled on the road recently. They’ve won just twice away from the San Memes Stadium and scored just 7 times in 7 games. They might struggle with the quick turnaround and with a rejuvenated Betis side who have been scoring plenty of goals.
