Football Accumulator Tips 1st April

Rayo Vallecano v Getafe – Rayo Vallecano win

Two La Liga strugglers meet on Friday night as Getafe travel to Madrid for this fixture. Getafe’s last game was exactly two weeks ago when they could only draw with Eibar after leading for a large portion of the match. Vallecano have picked up more points than their opponents recently, but they’ve failed to win in seven games. Getafe are 10 without victory and their away form this season is atrocious. The home side have been decent here, but have hosted some tricky fixtures recently with Barcelona and Sevilla coming to town. Vallecano need to start turning draws into wins and I think they can do it here against a side completely bereft of confidence. Getafe lost 2-0 here last May and average just 0.64 goals a game on the road. It’s hard to have any confidence in them picking up anything here.

Leverkusen v Wolfsburg – Leverkusen win

A very decent Bundesliga clash in prospect on Friday night as Leverkusen host Dieter Hecking’s Wolfsburg. There is every possibility that the away side have one eye on Wednesday’s clash with Real Madrid, but they have been pretty unreliable away from home this season. Just two away wins to their name coming into this and the most recent was against a dreadful Hannover side. They picked up a point against Hertha Berlin as well, but then lost 1-0 to Hoffenheim soon after. It’s back to back wins for Leverkusen now with a 1-0 win over Hamburg (it really should have been so much more) and then a 2-0 win away at Stuttgart, a side who had been playing well in the Bundesliga.  Although Leverkusen have lost a couple here recently, it was against in-form Dortmund and a decent Werder Bremen side. They did manage to hold Bayern Munich to a goalless side here and their recent form gives them the nod here.

Cheltenham v Grimsby – Cheltenham win

The hosts may have lost on Monday at Wrexham in front of the BT cameras but they should be able to bounce back here. They’re unbeaten in 13 home matches at Whaddon Road and Grimsby’s away form has been a little suspect recently. A 2-2 draw at Guiseley was followed by a 2-1 loss at Macclesfield earlier in the week and it doesn’t get much easier for them here. There are 14 points between these sides in the league, but it’s Forest Green that are within two points of the Robins now and after leading the way for so long, Gary Johnson’s men will not want to have to negotiate the play-offs at the expense of their neighbours. They have only lost once at home all season though and have hit 10 goals in their last four home matches, conceding just the one. I think they’ll see off Grimsby and open up a five point gap on Forest Green.

Bourg-Perronas v Ajaccio – Bourg-Perronas win

The International break came at the wrong time for Bourg-Perronas as they had just hit form. Two wins in a row after a dismal run will have boosted morale around the camp. They beat Nancy here last time out with the second place club conceding twice. They then won away at Auxerre and they should be able to get three points here. Ajaccio don’t have a good record away from home, winning just once all season and not picking up maximum points in the last four games on their travels. It’s just 10 points picked up throughout the season with only Paris FC accumulating fewer. Despite the almighty blip at the start of 2016, Bourg-Perronas still have the 8th best home form in the league and I think with their new found confidence, they can get the job done.

Metz v Niort – Metz win

Another home win in Ligue 2 with Metz fancied to take all three points here. They’re another side who had a mid-season blip, failing to win in six, losing four of them, but they’ve now been victorious in their last two matches. They beat Ajaccio here and then beat bottom side Paris FC in the capital. They’ve amassed 28 points from their 16 home matches this season and I fancy them to be too strong for Niort. Their opponents have won just one of their last eight and have not been victorious in any of their last five away matches. They average less than a goal a game on the road and although the Metz defence has been far from reliable recently, I wouldn’t fancy them to fire their way to victory here. They’ve hit just two goals in their last four away matches and failed to find the net against Ajaccio.
