Football Accumulator Tips Tonight:
Zenit St Petersburg v Gent – Over 2.5 goals
Zenit were involved in a needle match with Spartak at the weekend and it ended in a 2-2 draw. At the moment, they seem to be playing very openly, whether this is affected by the absence of AVB on the touchline can only be speculated, but they have been scoring and conceding for fun. They beat Valencia 3-2 in the opening match and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see something similar here. Hulk limped off at the weekend, but he should be fine to play in this. He scored an absolute belter at the weekend and if he is on form, Zenit will find the net easily.
Lyon v Valencia – Under 2.5 goals
Their 3-2 loss to Zenit was the first time in quite some time that Valencia had scored twice and they have been helped by the generosity of Zenit’s defence, which is gift wrapping goals at the moment. The away side only put one past a very poor Granada side at the weekend. Domestically, they have scored one goals in their three previous matches in La Liga and they lack goals and perhaps confidence at the moment. Lyon lost at the weekend to Bordeaux, but they haven’t been scoring too many goals recently, drawing 1-1 with Gent in their opening group game. Their four previous matches all fell under, three of which were draws (0-0 and 2 1-1s) and they would want to keep things tight here.
Fulham v Wolves – Fulham win
West London derby bragging right went to Fulham on Friday night as they thumped QPR 4-0. Kit Symons’ side had been gradually improving and it would have come as no surprise that they battered somebody. Not many would have expected it to be their near neighbours. They have added Richard Stearman to their backline and are now looking a little more solid, it was their first clean sheet of the season and something to build upon. Wolves have been out of sorts recently and there is something not quite right about Kenny Jackett’s side at the moment. They have injuries, yes, but their squad is better than recent results suggest. Losing at Bolton was very poor and they couldn’t get past Preston who were down to 10 men for the most of the match.
Accrington v Yeovil – Accrington win
Accrington are up to 5th in the league and are playing well. They are often underestimated by the bookmakers and this is the first time in a while, they have been short priced. They have been scoring goals and put three past Crawley, they also beat Exeter 4-2 and held Portsmouth to a 0-0 draw. Josh Windass is their standout player in midfield and might be leaving in January, but all of the players work for one another and they dig out plenty of results. Piero Mingoia adds width on the wing and Matt Crooks and Sean McConville are good young players and if Billy Kee can find consistency at this level, he can be lethal.
Port Vale v Oldham – Port Vale win
Another team who are underrated are Port Vale, they won away at Fleetwood at the weekend and they haven’t been conceding too many goals. They also beat Wigan here at Vale Park and they come up against Oldham, who are significantly poorer than the Latics. David Dunn is in charge of the side, but they have only won once all season. They have drawn a few games recently, including a 1-1 draw away at Doncaster, but I think Port Vale will keep them at bay and be able to finish them off. Uche Ikpeazu in particularly will be handful for the Oldham defence.
