Football Accumulator Tips for Tonight

Hungary v Switzerland – Switzerland win

It’s a battle in Group B to begin with and I think the visitors can edge this one. Hungary battled to a point against Faroe Islands in their previous match, which wasn’t a great result. They saw plenty of the ball, but only had two shots on target in the 90 minutes. They are back at home here, but I think Switzerland can make it two wins from two. They beat Portugal 2-0 in their previous Group B match where they defended diligently and ran out winners. That was a good result against the European Champions and Vladmir Petkovic’s side are very difficult to beat. They didn’t have a vintage tournament in the summer, but they remained unbeaten in 90 minutes conceding just two goals in normal time. They have the firepower, but couldn’t find their shooting boots in the summer, but I think they’ll only need one or two goals to win this. Hungary were one of the surprise packages of the summer before being found out by a rampant Belgium side and I think they will struggle to find a way past Switzerland.

France v Bulgaria – France to score over 2.5 team goals

The price on the French is far too short here on the home side at the Stade De France, but I think they grab a few goals here. They couldn’t find a way through against Belarus, but they were resting a few players in that game with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Blaise Matuidi starting on the bench. Perhaps an element of fatigue from their extended European Championships coupled with the new domestic league seasons had crept in during that game. France had 10 shots on target in that particular game and 23 attempts on goal. This dominance couldn’t find a way past a dogged Belarus side, but Bulgaria’s defence isn’t as solid. The visitors won their first group game 4-3 to Luxembourg. Internationally, it was the first time Luxembourg had scored three goals since 2013 and they netted with all 3 of their shots on target. Prior to that, they’d conceded 4 to Denmark and 7 to Japan! Surely France can find a way through this time.

Greece v Cyprus – Greece win

Greece host near neighbours Cyprus in the 2nd group game and although a short price, I fancy the home side to come out on top. Greece sit 2nd in the group after their 4-1 win over Gibraltar in September. They’ve improved significantly since their woeful qualification campaign and have actually won two of the last three games here. Kostas Mitroglu was on the scoresheet for the Greeks in the previous round and could pose problems for the Cypriots. The visitors lost 0-3 to Belgium at home in the previous round, but it could have been more as Batshuayi missed a last minute penalty. Belgium haven’t looked great under Roberto Martinez, but they easily won that fixture. Cyprus were always going to be under the cosh in that game and although Greece are nowhere near as strong as the Belgians, they should take all three points here. They’ve won three consecutive games (2 of them were friendlies though) and they should be able to continue that run here.

Belgium v Bosnia & Herzegovina – Over 2.5 Goals

Hard to call this one despite the short price on Belgium. I’m not convinced that this is the right job for Roberto Martinez and if Belgium’s backline is anything like Everton’s under his tutelage, they will concede goals. Three of the last four matches between these sides have seen three or more goals in the game and Bosnia have plenty of firepower with 7 goals scored in their last two games. Belgium have the in-form Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke firing for them whilst there is plenty of width in the side. Across different competitions, Bosnia have seen 6 of their last 8 games go over the 2.5 goals mark and this could be an exciting game to watch.

Finn Harps v Bray Wanderers – Bray Wanderers win

Skipping over to the Irish Premier League for this selection as there are a number of fixtures taking place on Friday evening. Finn Harps drew 0-0 on Tuesday night and it was their first point in five games. They’ve become more adept at keeping sides out, but they just aren’t scoring goals. They held Sligo Rovers to a goalless draw, but Bray are a much tougher opponent. Bray are the form team in the league with five consecutive wins and four victories from their last five away matches. They’ve shipped just three goals in their last five matches and their only defeat since May came against 2nd place Cork City. Finn Harps have scored just twice in their last five matches and are desperately short of firepower. A 1-0 or 2-0 Bray victory seems likely here.
