Tuesday’s Accumulator Tip:
Reading to beat Huddersfield (10/11)
Reading have surprisingly made a solid start to the season. Many tipped them to struggle having been unable to make any signings over the summer, but they have proved their doubters wrong. Nigel Adkins is an astute operator and an impressive crop of youngsters have bulked out a side that was looking a little on the thin side. A 1-0 win against Ipswich was impressive on Saturday and Huddersfield sit bottom of the league, without a manager and confidence is low, the Royals could take advantage.
Gillingham to beat Swindon (2/1)
Gillingham featured on our weekend accumulator as they saw off Yeovil 2-0. They are a young side and their inexperience showed on the opening day against MK Dons. Cody Macdonald may be back for this game and in him and Kedwell, they have two impressive frontmen. Swindon have had a mixed start, but seem generally ineffective when away from home.
Preston to beat Doncaster (6/5)
An opening day victory over Yeovil masked some of the problems at the Keepmoat over the summer, but they were exposed once again by Port Vale at the weekend. Paul Dickov has started to rebuild his squad, but they still look a little vulnerable and Preston’s confidence will be sky high. They thumped a poor Scunthorpe side 4-0 and Joe Garner will be looking to add to his tally for a side who have no problems on the road.
Burton to beat Exeter (8/11)
I tipped Burton at the start of the season and I won’t be changing my opinion anytime soon. Under Gary Rowett, the Brewers are in prime position to bounce back from their play off disappointment. Although rumours abound that Billy Kee may be off to Scunthorpe, they still have enough firepower and defensive stability to see off an Exeter side who are recovering from their transfer embargo and will be smarting from their Devon derby defeat to Plymouth
Cheltenham to beat Carlisle (6/4)
There are a number of teams playing at home this week in League Two who I could have selected for my final pick. Morecambe, Wycombe and Shrewsbury were all options, but I will stick with Cheltenham, who have had an excellent start to the season. Carlisle meanwhile scored their first goal of the season against Wycombe, but are struggling badly adapting to life back in League Two. Jack Marriott is a good loan signing, but he alone won’t be enough to win at Whaddon Road.
Accumulator Odds: 50/1 with William Hill.
