Euro 2016 Group Winners Accumulator Tip

Group A Winners – France

France are the hosts and they look in decent shape ahead of the tournament. Antoine Griezmann is is one of the deadliest strikers in Europe and Paul Pogba could drive France to win Euro 2016. They’ve had the benefit of not having to qualify, but have turned in some decent results in friendlies. Olivier Giroud ended the Premier League season with a hat trick and has carried on that form in France’s friendlies since, their attacking players look dangerous for any team. Perhaps there are questions about the backline with an ageing Patrice Evra and Eliaquim Mangala, who has had a poor season, but they are up against two sides who struggle for goals. Romania are solid defensively, but don’t score anywhere near enough. Albania are a bit of an unknown and Switzerland, without Gokhan Inler are strong, but are unlikely to beat the hosts.

Group B Winners – England

England are looking strong ahead of their three Group B fixtures at Euro 2016. There is firepower in abundance with Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane coming off the back of terrific seasons in the Premier League. There are questions about the defence, but they should be able to keep Russia and Wales at bay. Slovakia are underdogs in my opinion but will give England plenty to think about in what could be a vital last group game. Russia are decent, but they haven’t had the best preparation with some poor friendly displays. Many of the players are competing at the lesser level than their opposition and they are likely to fall short of winning this group. Hodgson’s side traditionally come unstuck in the knock-out stages, but after going unbeaten in qualification, they should be strong and take their place on our Euro 2016 group winners accumulator tip.

Group C Winners – Poland

I’m going for a surprise in Group C, but I believe Poland look strong and I think they can cause a shock in the group that holds Germany. They only lost once during qualifying, that was away in Germany. On neutral territory, they could cause a surprise. It finished 2-0 when the sides met in Warsaw and I think an ageing Germany side may struggle against the lively Poles. They put four past Ireland, who traditionally keep it tight, they also beat Iceland. Robert Lewandowski is always going to grab goals. There’s plenty of danger men for Germany of course, but I think Poland have the ability to spring a surprise here and add some great value to our Euro 2016 prediction. I know you shouldn’t read too much into friendly results, but Germany have lost a few warm up games and don’t look convincing in friendlies ahead of the start of Euro 2016. Ukraine and Northern Ireland will be dogged and tough to break down and might frustrate the top two, but they won’t come out on top.

Group D Winners – Spain

Obvious favourites for Group D are reigning European Champions Spain and I can’t see too much competition for group winner here. Spain were able to leave out the likes of Diego Costa, Juan Mata and Fernando Torres from their Euro 2016 squad. That suggests that they are confident of their ability to progress in the tournament. He may be an older member of the squad, but Adruiz has had another decent season in La Liga. Vincente Del Bosque’s side have plenty of experience and flair and should easily see off Croatia, Turkey and Czech Republic in Group D at Euro 2016. Turkey could be their most serious opposition, but they don’t have the squad depth of the Spaniards.

Euro 2016 each-way betting tip

Group E Winners – Belgium

The Italians failed to qualify for the knock-out stage of the World Cup in 2014 and although they are a better price than the Red Devils, I’d prefer to back Marc Wilmot’s side. Belgium looked like a team of individuals at the beginning of 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but eventually progressed to the Quarter Finals. The Italians are ageing and Marco Verratti and Claudio Marchisio are both missing from the tournament and the midfield is looking a little empty. Andrea Pirlo doesn’t make the cut and although there are plenty of options going forward, I think they could be vulnerable at the back. Once again, reading into friendly results is not advised, but the 3-1 victory for Belgium in November 2015 was a big indicator for this match-up. Belgium dominated and the Azurri struggled to cope with their pace and power. Republic of Ireland will be tough to beat for both of these sides, but they probably won’t top the group. Sweden are a much changed side and of course have Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but they should not challenge the top two.

Group F Winners – Austria

Austria are quietly fancied in many Euro 2016 betting tips ahead of this tournament and I think they can upset the odds by progressing from Euro 2016 Group F ahead of favourites Portugal. Marcel Koller’s side won nine times in the qualifying and were unbeaten throughout. They have the impressive David Alaba and there’s no shortage of goals in the shape Marc Janko coupled with the creativity of Marko Anautovic. They’ll be hard to beat and they’ve lost just four times in 22 games. There’s a question mark over their big tournament experience, but I think that’s likely to cause them problems in the knock-out stages as opposed to the group stage. Portugal were another of the big casualties in Brazil and I think they may have to play runner up here. Cristiano Ronaldo is a hugely talented individual, capable of winning any game, but he flickers at major tournaments and has been struggling with injury.
