Euro 2016 Winner Each-way Prediction
They may have only have won the tournament once, back in 1968, but they have a habit of reaching the final. They were outclassed by a rampant Spain in 2012 and were seen off by Golden Goal 12 years earlier when they met France in the final. Antonio Conte goes into his final tournament managing the national team and will be desperate to go out on a high.
True, the Italian side isn’t as impressive looking as in previous tournaments. There’s no place for the ageing Andrea Pirlo and injuries prevent us from seeing Claudio Marchisio and Raphael Veratta in action. If they finish top – they are likely to face one of – Croatia, Czech Republic or Turkey (assuming Spain win their group) and if they finish second – they could face Portugal, Iceland, Austria or Hungary. I wouldn’t be worried about anybody in group F against the Italians.
Ahead of their clash with Belgium, the Italians ran out 2-0 winners against Finland. Goals from Candreva and De Rossi eased them to victory and it could have been more. Zaza and El Shaarawy missed chances to make the score-line more convincing as plenty of attacking intent was displayed.
There is a worry that the Italian backline might be creaking slightly, but they only shipped seven goals in their qualification and I think it looks significantly more obdurate than France’s or even England’s back four.
They only conceded a single goal to Spain when they met in a recent friendly and as long as they avoid Germany or France en-route to the final, I think they can reach the latter stages of the tournament with relative ease and land my each-way Euro 2016 winner betting tip.
