Neil Warnock came out of retirement AGAIN to take charge of Cardiff City during the International break. The experienced boss takes charge of the Bluebirds following Paul Trollope’s sacking. The former Bristol Rovers’ man was always an odd choice and although they afforded him time, he wasn’t popular with the fans. They’ve got off to a dreadful start with just a couple of wins to their name and sit second bottom, just above Warnock’s former club – Rotherham. They’ve been busy this week adding a number of players to their squad, the most eye catching being Junior Hoilett. The Canadian winger should add some directness and energy to the squad. They’ve also signed a mohican-less Marouane Chamakh. Bristol City have made an impressive start under Lee Johnson and have surprised many with their ability to upset the bigger teams. They currently sit 5th in the table and have a full squad to pick from here. Tammy Abraham has already been one of the success stories of this season and he continued his fine form scoring for the England Under-21s on Tuesday. Whilst being very strong at Ashton Gate, they’ve been mixed on the road winning two of five.

Neil Warnock took over a hapless Rotherham and immediately made them harder to beat. He got a 0-0 draw that day despite going down to 9 men. As we mentioned, Neil Warnock has been busy since taking over in South Wales. He’s signed Sol Bamba, Junior Hoilett, Kieran Richardson and Marouane Chamakh. Hoilett is probably the likeliest to start with the rest possibly on the bench. The fitness of Richardson and Chamakh is questionable, so 20 minutes for each may be a better option.
Outside of the new signings, Matt Connolly is suspended for this game, but a few of the injuries have cleared up over the break. Anthony Pilkington is back and should start along with Aron Gunnarsson. There are questions over the fitness of Ricky Lambert though.
For the visitors, Lee Tomlin is back from suspension whilst Mark Little has also returned to full fitness. They have a fully fit squad to pick from.

Bristol City haven’t beaten Cardiff in the last three attempts. It ended 0-2 to the Bluebirds in March with goals from Stuart O’Keefe and Lex Immers securing the three point. The last time they met at the Cardiff City Stadium, it ended 0-0.
