Birghton v Boro betting tips

Brighton v Middlesbrough Betting Tips and Predictions

Brighton v Middlesbrough predictions and our football betting tips for this weekend’s Championship fixture on Saturday lunchtime.

We’ve got a betting preview for a cracker of a game on Saturday lunchtime as two of the leading lights in the Championship meet at the AMEX.

Brighton v Middlesbrough Predictions

Brighton remain unbeaten, although it was touch and go as they went down to ten men away at Loftus Road, but just held on for a 2-2 draw. It’s an impressive record and the longest unbeaten run in Europe. After an average 2014/15, few people would have put Brighton down as a promotion contender.

Chris Hughton is once again proving that he is a great man-manager and has his team playing decent football. Inspirational midfielder Solly March is out injured with a problem picked up against Derby. A couple more injuries and there could be real problems for the Seagulls. In midfield, they need to keep Dale Stephens fit, he will be crucial in the absence of the aforementioned March.

The 21 game unbeaten run has yielded 43 points which is just four short of last season’s total. This is going to be their hardest task yet.

Middlesbrough are in fine form, which is no surprise as they sit top of the table after another clean sheet on Tuesday. An Emilio Nsue goal was enough to see off the Clarets and once again, the defence held strong. Boss, Aitor Karanka has said that Brighton’s unbeaten run does not bother him and it doesn’t give them any sort of advantage. They’ve had 12 shutouts this season and have won four of their last five and six of their last eight in the league.

The only time they’ve been beaten recently was losing 3-0 at the KC Stadium. Until Tuesday, they have struggled against top quality opposition this season, but they could finally have turned a corner. Not many (Including me) expected them to get anything at Portman Road and many would have tipped them to come away with a point from their match with Burnley. They won both.

Both of these sides are extremely strong and this could easily end all square when considering my football predictions for the clash. Given that Brighton will have expended more energy on Tuesday night keeping QPR out and they are missing Solly March, I would give Middlesbrough the edge here.

My first Brighton v Middlesbrough prediction is for Middlesbrough to win. The best odds for Middlesbrough to beat Brighton are 15/8 at Bet365.

After keeping things reasonably tight in the first part of the season, Brighton’s games have opened up quite a bit in recent weeks. They’ve had consecutive 2-2 draws with QPR and Derby, they had to come from behind to beat Charlton 3-2 and they beat Birmingham 2-1 before that. Middlesbrough have been quite the opposite, they’ve kept five consecutive clean sheets and seven in their last eight. But they’ve only kept a clean sheet in 40% of their away matches and conceded against Hull, Cardiff, Reading, Forest & Wolves on the road. Brighton have only failed to score once at home all season, that was against Preston and I think this may see Boro’s clean sheet record coming to an end.

My second Brighton v Middlesbrough betting tip is for Both Teams to Score? Yes. It can be backed at 21/20 with William Hill.

Despite his goal draught Tomer Hemed is still top of the goalscoring market, but I’d prefer to dig a little deeper. One player who has won us some money this season is Grant Leadbitter, who takes penalties and is handy from distance. He is the man, at a larger price to be backed.

My third football prediction for Brighton v Middlesbrough is for Grant Leadbitter to score anytime. He can be backed at 5/1 with bet365 which is the best odds.
