Both Teams to Score Tips 22nd November
Sporting v Real Madrid
Real Madrid sit 2nd in their group behind Borussia Dortmund and are yet to keep a clean sheet in four group games. Will it be 5th time lucky? Los Blancos kept Atletico Madrid off the scoresheet at the weekend and the return of Sergio Ramos from injury will help, but Sporting will be very dangerous and they are also desperate for points. Zinedine Zidane’s side could only draw 3-3 with Legia in their last away match of the competition and found themselves trailing midway through the second half. They looked all over at the back and Sporting could punish them. This fixture finished 2-1 when the sides met in Portugal earlier in the competition and a similar result here seems likely. Cristiano Ronaldo is back to his best and netted a hat-trick at the weekend, he could instigate a Real victory here, but Sporting are likely to get on the scoresheet.
Fleetwood v Shrewsbury
Fleetwood remain the only side in the third tier to score in every game this season and against Shrewsbury, it looks likely to continue. Uwe Rosler’s side picked up maximum points at the weekend beating Chesterfield 2-1. They are very strong at home and have hit two goals in five of their last seven games at Highbury. They are playing attacking football and although they are struggling to keep clean sheets, it’s working and it’s entertaining the crowds. They are netting from all over the park with recent strikes from Amari Bell and Victor Nirennold. Shrewsbury are improving under Paul Hurst and despite playing much of the second half with 9 men, they managed to restrict Sheffield United to just two goals at the weekend. Louis Dodds netted for the Shrews and that should give the former Port Vale man the confidence to add a few more. They’ve netted in 7 of their last 9 away matches in all competitions.
Mansfield v Blackpool
It’s 7th v 11th in League Two on Tuesday night as Steve Evans’ Mansfield host Blackpool at Field Mill. Evans was a surprise appointment for the Stags, but he grabbed his first win against an out-of-form Crawley. Mansfield were impressive and Chris Clements bagged a couple of goals. Blackpool have started climbing the table and are on the brink of the play-offs. They have the busiest attack in the league taking the most shots per game and had 14 against Leyton Orient at the weekend. They notched twice at the weekend, hit four against Notts County and Doncaster recently and have Kyle Vassell and Jamille Matt in form. BTTS would have landed in 5/6 for Mansfield in the league whilst 9/11 for Blackpool.
Luton v Portsmouth
Two of the busiest attacks in the league meet on Tuesday night. Pompey were left completely frustrated on Saturday afternoon as they could only draw 1-1 with Cheltenham. Portsmouth completely dominated the match and despite numerous efforts on goal they couldn’t find a way past Russell Griffiths. Paul Cook’s men have been involved in some high scoring matches this season but their patchy away from leaves them behind two points behind their hosts. They’ve kept a few clean sheets this season, but they’ve been against sides in the bottom half of the table such as Exeter, Crawley or out of form teams like Mansfield. Luton have been dominating possession and shot counts all season, but have failed to put games away. They come here off the back of two clean sheets, but this will be much tougher and although they kept a clean sheet here against Accrington, their last home shutout came back in April. Danny Hylton is once again troubling the goalscoring charts and will be a constant threat for the Hatters.
