Birmingham have been a revelation under Gary Rowett. It’s been well documented what a tremendous job the former Burton manager has done with the Blues. They were in the doldrums under Lee Clark, but Rowett has instilled an unbreakable team spirit, which has been absent for quite some time.

 

He has been helped by having some talented youngsters in his ranks, such as Demerai Gray and despite not being able to spend much money, his team have been flying high.

 

In contrast, Wolves have struggled to recapture the form of last season and have lost their last three games slipping to 14th in the table. Many expected a promotion push from Kenny Jackett’s men, but is has yet to materialise and this would be their ideal opportunity to bounce back.

 

They’ve shipped too many goals, but the loan acquisition of Mike Williamson should help add some experience to a youthful back four. The Newcastle man may have been lambasted by former boss John Carver, but he has experience at this level and has been playing against superior attacking threats, so he shouldn’t find the Championship too difficult.

 

They haven’t had too many problems scoring goals and despite their decent form, Birmingham have conceded in every game at St Andrews, so that will hearten Wolves fans.

 

Before their 2-0 reverse to Hull, Birmingham had been on an unbeaten run, winning all four matches in a row. That includes victories over QPR, Bolton, Leeds and Brentford. They are a very impressive side and I fancy them to get the better of their local rivals in this weekend’s football betting tips.

 

The men in gold have had some very difficult fixtures, including losing to Derby & Middlesbrough, but sandwiched in-between was an exceptionally poor loss to Brentford. They’re an odd side though, because they looked very classy in their 3-0 win against Huddersfield and had also beaten an in-form Fulham team.

 

They’ve scored in their last four consecutive away games and have only failed to net once on the road. With Birmingham’s habit of conceding, I fancy this game to finish with both sides netting.
