Atletico Madrid welcome PSV Eindhoven to the Vicente Calderon for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie and I have three football tips for this one.

The first leg at the Philips Stadion ended in stalemate, though Atletico had the best opportunities of the game, Luciano Vietto and Antoine Griezmann guilty of missing good chances. Still, 0-0 wasn't too bad a scoreline for Diego Simeone's side to take back to Madrid, and they'll be confident of qualifying for the quarter finals.

 

Since the first leg, both sides have carried on with their excellent domestic seasons. Atletico are second in La Liga and have won all four of their league games since their trip to the Philips Stadion, keeping three clean sheets in the process. PSV have been in great form too, their 1-1 draw at home to Heerenveen last time out was the first time they'd dropped points in the Eredivisie in 11 games. They, like Madrid, have been excellent defensively too, keeping five clean sheets in their six league games.

 

Stefan Savic and Tiago will be missing for Atletico, and Fernando Torres is unlikely to be fit after missing the win over Deportivo with a knee injury. For PSV, Gaston Pereiro is suspended after his red card in the first leg, and there are doubts over Andres Guardado and Maxime Lestienne but they do welcome back leading goalscorer Luuk De Jong, who missed the first leg through suspension.

 

Although both teams boast good form this season, for my Champions League betting tips I think the home side will do enough here to see them through safely to the quarter finals. Both sides have been good at the back, but in this competition have struggled in front of goal. In the first leg, PSV only managed one shot on target, the afore mentioned De Jong is back but he'll have a job breaking down a defence that has kept 11 clean sheets in their last 13 Champions League games at the Calderon. With the influential Lestienne doubtful, I can't see a way through for PSV, and I think the home side will nick this, particularly when you consider PSV haven't won away in the Champions League this season. Won't be many goals, but my Atletico Madrid vs PSV prediction is for Atletico to win and under 2.5 goals in the game. The best odds are with Betway who are offering 9/5.

Antoine Griezmann may have missed a decent chance in the first leg, but he is definitely Atletico's one to watch against PSV.
