AFC Wimbledon vs Portsmouth Betting Tips and Predictions

AFC Wimbledon vs Portsmouth betting tips and predictions for the 12:45pm kick off in League Two on Monday with three best bets for the match.

Portsmouth are looking to make it back to back wins across the Easter Weekend as they visit West London to take on AFC Wimbledon, our betting preview includes the best odds for our three bets.

AFC Wimbledon v Portsmouth Betting Preview

There was contrasting fortunes for both of these sides on Friday as Portsmouth produced another thumping performance to see off Notts County, whilst AFC Wimbledon slipped to a disappointing defeat in the North East.

Paul Cook’s side were expected to be in the promotion shake up come the end of the season and they are heading in the right direction. It’s hard to see them dropping out of the Play-Off places in their current form but they are still five points shy of the automatic spots.

They’ve been decent form both home and away with 31 and 32 points respectively from their fixtures so far.

AFC Wimbledon find themselves seven points behind today’s opponents but have lost three of their last four games including a poor loss to Hartlepool on Friday. It’s just one win in seven for Neal Ardley’s side who have alarmingly dropped off the pace of late. That sole victory was against struggling York. A lack of composure was the assessment of Ardley who will hope his side can re-ignite their faint play-off hopes in front of their own fans.

Pompey are unbeaten in their last four away matches and have only lost three times on the road coming into this. A Kyle Bennett double and another Marc McNulty strike gave Portsmouth the perfect start to the weekend and they’ll bring plenty of confidence coming into this.

AFC Wimbledon vs Portsmouth: Team News

Paul Cook is unlikely to meddle too much with a winning side. They have a very strong bench and Marc McNulty came on to make a strong appeal for a starting place here. Kai Naismith also replaced Adam McGurk halfway through the second half and he could be pushing for a start. There’s an embarrassment of riches to choose from for the Pompey gaffer to choose his starting 11 from.

Paul Robinson missed out against Hartlepool because of a thigh injury and this match may come too soon for the experienced centre.

AFC Wimbledon finished the game with three up front as they pushed for an equaliser and there’s no shortage of firepower. Adebayo Akinfenwa and Tom Elliott were thrown on late in the game to try and rescue the match whilst Adebayo Azeez could also be pushing for a start.

AFC Wimbledon v Portsmouth Predictions

In their current form, it’s hard to see Wimbledon getting anything from this match. Portsmouth have been putting teams away recently as they push for promotion. They’re also scoring goals from all over the pitch with centre half Christian Burgess chipping in on Friday. The first of my AFC Wimbledon v Portsmouth predictions is for Portsmouth to win.

Three of the last four Portsmouth games have finished with three or more goals in them. Likewise, three of the last four Wimbledon games have gone the same way. The second of my AFC Wimbledon v Portsmouth predictions is for Over 2.5 goals. It can be backed at Evens with 888Sport.

With two goals to his name on Friday, it’s not hard to select Kyle Bennett to score for my anytime goalscorer tip. But, the winger is a confidence player and he could find a way past a Wimbledon defence who are without Paul Robinson. The third of my AFC Wimbledon v Portsmouth betting tips is for Kyle Bennett to score anytime. He can be backed at 3/1 with Betfred.
