Football Accumulator Tips
Palermo v Fiorentina – Fiorentina win
Fiorentina are one of the in-form sides in Serie A and they travel to Palermo for this 2pm kick off as we look to get our acca tip off to a winning start. The Florence based side have plenty of firepower and they have managed to score in every single match this season. They suffered a minor setback when they travelled to Turin and lost 3-1 in their last away outing, but they bounced back at Stadio Artemio Franchi with a straightforward 2-0 win over Chievo. They travel to Palermo, a mid-table side, who are nothing special and have won just three times since the end of August. The home side have lost three of their last four matches and failed to score in them all. An incongruous 4-1 win sits inbetween those results, but Frosinone, their opponents that day have not conceded fewer than two goals a game since the end of October. With Palermo’s lack of recent firepower, Fiorentina shouldn’t have too many problems taking all the points here.
Sassuolo v Frosinone – Sassuolo win
This is a fairly short price for the next leg of our accumulator tip, but I can’t ignore the problems that Frosinone have at the back. They are leaking goals left, right and centre and it might continue here. I took the consideration to back Sassuolo to score at least a couple of goals, but they have just about been doing enough at home recently. Their last couple of results at the Mapei Stadium have seen them draw 1-1 with Fiorentina, perfectly credible and 1-0 wins over Juventus and Carpi. They’ve lost just three times all season, but they’ve all been on the road and the fact that Frosinone conceded four to both AC Milan & Palermo and twice to Chievo at home suggests they’re having real problems shoring things up at the back. 22 goals conceded since the 1st of November tells its own story.
Empoli v Inter Milan – Empoli (+1) Handicap
Empoli are on the march and they have exceeded expectations so far. They completed four wins in a row before Christmas when they beat in-form Bologna. They weren’t expected to do much this season after finishing just four points above the drop zone last season. Giampaolo took over at the helm and he has overseen a huge improvement. Massimo Maccarone is providing some much needed experience and at 36, he is still knocking them in. They held Napoli and Fiorentina to draws this campaign and their only defeat this side of the 17th of October was to high flying Juventus. Inter Milan have one of the best defensive records in the league and started the season with a flourish. They’ve still only let in five goals on the road this season, but they were beaten by Lazio last time out, it was their first win since the 25th of October and they could find that hard to bounce back from. I believe Empoli can nick a point at least.
Uniao Madeira v Boavista – Uniao Madeira win
This a basement battle in the Primeira Liga in Portugal as Uniao Madeira host out of form Boavista. I’ve seen quite a bit of the home side recently and they were solid and organised, keeping a clean sheet against Benfica. They went on to surprise the footballing world by beating Sporting 1-0 just before Christmas. They rode their luck in that match with the Jorge Jesus’ side wasting glorious opportunities before a sucker punch from the hosts in the form of a breakaway goal. The win was celebrated like they had clinched the title, but it was key for a side that had previously been struggling to keep the top sides at bay. There’s clearly a togetherness and a unity to the side and despite their 3-1 loss away at Academica, they should be able to keep Boavista out here. An appalling two points from their last eight games for the visitors is astonishingly poor and they might fail to extend that here. Goals are still a problem for Uniao Madeira, but they’ve scored in two of their last three home matches and just one strike here should be enough for this week’s accumulator.
Moreirense v Guimaraes – Moreirense Draw No Bet
This is a battle of two sides who are better away from home, but despite picking up just nine points from their home matches so far, seven of those have come from their last three matches here. They’ve lost just three times since the start of September and just once since the start of September and despite Guimaraes winning their last three home games, I think they can get something here. The visitors may have won their last three on the road, but two of those were against Estoril and Boavista, two dreadfully out of form sides, who find themselves bottom of the form table. Five clean sheets from their last six matches in the league has seen Moreirense steadily climb a few places and with only Sporting CP finding a way past them in nearly two months, I fancy them to come away with something here and complete our winning accumulator tip.
