Tonight’s Accumulator Tips.
Bournemouth to beat Reading
Reading were woeful at the weekend against Derby. They were thumped 3-0 by Steve McClaren’s classy side, but they might also struggle against Eddie Howe’s team. The Cherries were responsible for ending Charlton’s unbeaten start to the season and the Addicks are extremely hard to breakdown. The Royals undoubtedly carry a threat with Glenn Murray and Simon Cox, but Bournemouth should have too much for them. The home side will be delighted to see Callum Wilson scoring again and with the assistance of Yann Kermogant, Matt Ritchie and Andrew Surman, they should be too powerful for Nigel Adkin’s side.
Huddersfield to beat Brighton
Chris Powell has improved Huddersfield significantly since arriving to take over from Mark Robins. The former Charlton boss has got his side scoring for fun and although they still have the tendency to ship goals, the emergence of Harry Bunn and the loan signing of Grant Holt gives them an increased goal threat. Sean Scannell ripped Blackpool apart at the weekend and I’ve always thought highly of Jacob Butterfield in midfield. Sami Hyppia hasn’t had a dream start on the South coast, his side has struggled for consistency and lost at home to Middlesbrough at the weekend. They have drawn far too many games and are beginning to look over their shoulders.
Bristol City to beat Bradford
They’re bound to be a short price, but you wouldn’t bed against Bristol City at the moment. They are flying and 5 points clear of a decent Peterborough side. Steve Cotterill has plenty of firepower at his disposal and they saw off Coventry at the weekend with relative ease. Back at home, they should have too much for Bradford, who failed to get anything against Sheffield United at Valley Parade. I haven’t quite worked out the Bantams yet, they are inconsistent and have lost their last 2, but on paper, have a decent squad. The table toppers should be able to stretch their lead at the summit.
Luton to beat Dagenham
I’ve heard the statement ‘Luton are flying’ several times this weekend, it’s a correct summation of John Still’s team, who are finally living up to those pre-season expectations and have won their last 5 games, including a win over Hartlepool at the weekend. Kennilworth Road is not a place you would want to visit as an away team at the moment and out of form Dagenham will be unlikely to come away with anything on Tuesday night. A late Chris Zebroski goal saw the Daggers off at the weekend and despite Jamie Cureton’s best efforts, they were unable to emerge from the Newport game with anything.
Morecambe to beat York
Blips and mini-blips are part and parcel of any season (unless you’re Chelsea or Bristol City it seems…) and Morecambe appear to be over theirs with a superb 2-0 win against Burton at the weekend. Kevin Ellison is inspiring his team, at the ripe old age of 35 and the men from the North West could have the beating of York. York appear to be having a season long blip and Russ Wilcox has to begin turning it around sooner rather than later, but I think this match will come too soon whilst he assesses his goal-shy squad.
