Saturday’s Accumulator Tip

Bournemouth to beat Brentford – 5/6

This fixture may not immediately stand out as a home banker for the weekend, but Eddie Howe’s men can take advantage of a generous Brentford defence. They rotated midweek and conceded 6 to League 2 Dagenham & Redbridge, but prior to that, The Bees haven’t kept a clean sheet during pre-season and conceded an avoidable goal against Charlton last week. Bournemouth are yet to let a goal in and their tails will be up from last week’s superb performance against Huddersfield.

Bristol City to beat Colchester – 8/13

Bristol City put in a very competent performance against one of the fancied teams last week, overcoming Sheffield United 2-1 in front of the TV cameras. Colchester drew 2-2 with Oldham and were trounced by Charlton in midweek and with a small squad, Joe Dunne couldn’t afford the luxury of too much rotation ahead of this tie. With Aaron Wilbraham, Sam Baldock and Wade Elliott all the same team and a backline marshalled by Aden Flint, it’s hard not to fancy the Robins.

Chesterfield to beat Rochdale – Evens

Pre-season I couldn’t pick between these sides for the higher finish come the end of the season. But Chesterfield got off to a superb start and gave Championship Huddersfield a run for their money in midweek. Rochdale appear to be struggling to fill the void left by Scott Hogan and goals might be hard to come by, particularly away from home.

Gillingham to beat Yeovil – 8/5

This is one of two repeat fixtures from midweek, Crewe facing Barnsley being the other one. Gillingham saw off Yeovil 3-1 at Huish Park and now have the chance for a quickfire double back at the Priestfield. Yeovil appear to have a complete inability to defend, which must be worrying for Gary Johnson. Gillingham can take advantage of their frailties at the back and Peter Taylor has his young side organised and ready for this game.

Bury to beat Hartlepool – 7/5

Colin Cooper was furious with his sides performance midweek losing 6-2 to Port Vale and I can’t see them getting off to a winning start at Victoria Park here. His young side have plenty of potential, but that battering will have done them no good whatsoever and Bury were much improved midweek, running Bolton extremely close. Ryan Lowe and Daniel Nardiello can use their wisdom and know-how to take advantage of the North East side.
